PCC Alumni Association [Pensacola Christian College, Pensacola, FL]
    December 11, 2006

Sunday, December 10, Dr. Horton made the following announcement to the Campus Church:

"We know that you as a congregation have faithfully prayed, during the past seven months, trusting God to provide a godly, Spirit-filled pastor for the Campus Church. Through the Lord’s wonderful mercy and goodness to us, I am happy to officially tell you that God has answered the prayers of our church family and our students.

Dr. Neal Jackson has accepted the invitation to be the pastor of the Campus Church. He is a 1993 graduate of Pensacola Christian College and received a PCC Master in Bible Exposition in 1994. He co-pastors with his father at Belmont Baptist Church in Conyers, Georgia. He is the son and the grandson of Baptist preachers. His father, Pastor Nolan L. Jackson, Sr., has pastored Belmont Baptist Church for twenty-nine years. His grandfather, Evangelist Maze Jackson of Decatur, GA, spent a lifetime in preaching. From his father and grandfather, Dr. Jackson learned the importance of serving Christ with all his heart and ministering the Word of God. He grew up in a family where faith in Jesus Christ was demonstrated and modeled in every area of life and in God’s ministry. His wife, Tracy, graduated in 1993 from PCC with a major in graphic design. They have three children.

The Lord has doubly answered our prayers to bless this ministry and I am happy to announce that God has led Dr. Lloyd Streeter to accept the invitation to become Co-pastor of the Campus Church. Dr. Streeter has pastored thirty years at the First Baptist Church of LaSalle, Illinois. He has frequently spoken at the Campus Church and also at our Enrichment Conference and Bible Conference. Dr. Streeter had already planned to retire from his church in May and move south and do some preaching as God opened doors. Dr. Streeter started a Christian school in his church twenty-nine years ago, and has taught high school Bible. His wife, Karen, served as school principal twelve years. A PCC graduate has now come to serve as principal. Dr. and Mrs. Streeter have three grown children and seven grandchildren.

Dr. Streeter will preach one Sunday a month until May, and then assume his Co-pastor responsibility in Fall 2007. As Co-pastor, his primary responsibility will be preaching in the Campus Church along with Seminary and College chapels.

We are planning an installation service for both of them at the Sunday evening service January 14. After which will be a church reception to welcome both Dr. Jackson and Dr. Streeter and their wives. Dr. Jackson will begin his responsibilities January 21. We are thrilled that God has called these men to pastor the Campus Church.

Today, in three different churches - Belmont Baptist Church in Conyers, Georgia, and First Baptist Church in LaSalle, Illinois, and here at the Campus Church, this announcement is officially and publicly being made.
ponsibility will be preaching in the Campus Church along with Seminary and College chapels."

Part of RESIGNATION ANNOUNCEMENT MADE BY PASTOR LLOYD STREETER, ,
DECEMBER 10, 2006, AT THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF LASALLE, ILLINOIS

    Quote:

"However, our plans have changed. It seems that the Lord may have one more ministry for us yet. I have been called as co-pastor of the Campus Church in Pensacola, Florida; and I have accepted. There will be an installation service there on January 14; however, the major part of my ministry there will not begin until the end of August. The Campus Church decided to call two preaching pastors. Our only responsibility will be to preach---preach in the church services (3, at least, per week), preach sometimes in the College chapel, preach sometimes in the Seminary chapel, preach sometimes in the Academy chapel. Preach, preach, and preach. There is a church administrator (some might call him an administrative pastor). There is a youth pastor. There is a minister of visitation. So, almost all of the other work is taken off of the preaching pastors---they have only to preach.

The church and college wanted two preaching pastors---a young one and an old one. You can guess as to which one I am going to be. The other preaching pastor is Dr. Neal Jackson, from Atlanta, Georgia. He is 33 years old. He will be the pastor. I believe that he will be a very good pastor for the Campus Church. I will be the co-pastor. The College and Church wants me there to preach and to model expository preaching for the ministerial students in the College and Seminary.

We will be in Florida for nine months out of the year. We will be in Michigan for three months. I am leaving a great ministry here, and I am going to a great ministry there. Pensacola Christian College and the Campus Church have been raised up for such a time as this. The work there is highly strategic on the religious scene today. There is no school or church that is taking a better stand on the Bible. There is no school or church that has more sound doctrine. There is, today, a slippage and a drift in many, so called, "fundamentalist" colleges and seminaries. I thank God for Pensacola Christian College which stands where the old time fundamentalists have always stood. I thank God for Dr. Arlin Horton, the Founder and President, and for his unwavering stand. I thank God for Dr. Joel Mullenix, the Vice President, who is stalwart and uncompromising in the fight for the Bible and for the faith. I am glad to join them and have some small part in that great work.
I covet your prayers. You have always prayed for Karen and me. Please continue to hold us up in prayer. Pray for Dr. Neal Jackson, also. The burden and responsibility of preaching to so many and of having our messages go out over Rejoice Radio and the "Rejoice in the Lord" TV
ministry is an awesome responsibility. We need your prayers."

PCC's Campus Church is not a normal church. It seems that the congregation or members of the Campus Church do not call nor elect the pastor or co-pastors. They were chosen by the president or board of directors of the college, and they likely are under their authority.

Can't say that I wouldn't like the idea of only preaching. Just seems like a place for trouble down the road. PCC always cracked me up, it was fun to watch the students down at the bookstore, appliance store or whatever watching their favorite TV show.

What happened to the former pastor?

Pastor Jim Schettler (may not be correct spelling) resigned about 6 months ago.
I heard he has recently taken a church in California.

He spoke at some youth conferences that I was involved in (as a youth worker and song leader). I have great respect for him, and the Pensacola area will miss him.

My parents are members of this church, and when I visited there last August, Bro Neal went out of his way to greet me as a visitor, and he had no idea that I am a Pastor, i.e. he sincerily welcomed a visitor to his church. I was impressed with his genuineness.
