To do serious study does not necessarily mean going to a more form-oriened translation. Anyone can use a formally equivalent version but should have a less form-oriented one also to compare.

The NKT is not as dynamic as the NLT,and certainly not in any way similiar to The Message.

 

How much of its 'strange " wording would be due to british idioms/phrasing?

So you would approve a version that reads and sounds like an updated Livving bible to us?

 

You don't know what you are saying. The NKT is a mediating translation such as the NET,HCSB,NAS,ISV,NJB and NIV. From the past,the old Norlie,Modern Language Bible etc. were right in the same ballpark.

 

Just basing it on your verses cited, sounds like Phillips, or news for modern man to me !
