Well, so he's mean, cruel and vindictive --- is he electable?

I look for whomever the candidate ends up being on the Republican ticket to have a "born-again" experience to ensure the Evangelical Conservative Christian vote. In fact, several candidates may suddenly become "born again" right before the primary for 2008. More carrots to dangle at the Christian Right.

You might want to get past that problem unless you want Guiliani to be the GOP's 2008 POTUS candidate.

    *cringe*

the problem I see is that once people get into politics, well, so much seems to go down the toilet.

And it only seems to get worse . . .

soon - at the present rate of degneration - A homosexual, female, muslim terrorist as a candidate for president will be considered a 'moderate'. And that is after she is downgraded from a conservative for her 5th abortion because her drug usage led to deformed babies that needed to be 'eliminated'. And she will refuse 'citizenship' because we are not a islamofascist country - yet.

No. Instead Kerry advocates the murder of the innocent in defiance of the teachings of his church.

Kerry brings his own baggage to the fray , as we well know.

A lot of American still won't vote for traitors.

My prior post was unclear on that point. My apologies.

Yes, he's electable. But he has some baggage, like Hillary.

They, he & Hillary, have been working together, I hear. At least, that shows they can.

It's interesting to hear Newt's character questioned, especially by some who cringe when that happens to Bill Clinton. Hacks defend their own, no matter what their own have done.

Newt has simply taken advantage of the relatively short memory of the electorate and made some good speeches and done some bipartisan work with leading Democrats. Can he survive a campaign? Who knows. Going to be an interesting race in 2008.

Not all of us cringed when Clinton's character was questioned. It should have been. Character is an intricate part of what I look at. We are entrusting these people with a tremendous amount.

I just want good men and women with character and integrity to step up to the plate here.

Clinton's moral degeneracy is excused by liberals most often by some form of the phrase "It was all about sex."

It is illustrated best by Clinton's declaration that he did not have a "sexual relationship" with that woman because oral sex is a not a "sexual relationship".

That's what I meant...Clinton's hacks got bent out of shape when Clinton's character was questioned, and now these same hacks are onto Newt. I just loathe the double-standards that hacks have.

I would hope we would all deplore Newt's and Clinton's sexual behavior. I think less of Newt, because he is not only an adulterer, but abandoned his family in conditions that are nothing less than despicable.

However, for Newt, the lack of moral fiber goes beyond sex. He had several confrontations with President Clinton over policy, and allowed Clinton to steamroller him each time.

Because Clinton, when he believes in something, is deterred by nothing. And because Newt believes in nothing. When he threatened to shut down the government unless Clinton agreed to his terms, Clinton called his bluff and forced him to concede.

If Newt becomes president, that is the sort of thing we'll see with regard to Iran and North Korea.

The difference between decisive action and foolhardiness lies in the ability to accurately guage the consequences.

The most common last words of the American redneck? "Hey y'all, watch this!"

Clinton was bold and successful. Bush was bold and a failure. And they are so perceived by the American people.

Will Bush's reputation improve after a few years out of office? Probably. There isn't any other direction for it to go. But he'll never reach the ranks of medocre presidents.

Clinton's foreign policy was largely a massive failure. He did not confront terrorism anywhere in the world. He allowed genocide to go on in Eastern Europe and Africa. He did not confront Iraq with any observable influence. Under his watch, Iraq expelled the UN weapon's inspectors, stonewalled, continued to violate the no-fly zone, and shot at American aircraft. He did nothing to get Bin Ladin. He did nothing to deal with North Korea or Iran. He did not deal with China on human rights abuses. And the list goes on and on. Clinton benefitted from an economic swing and the Republican Revolution which enabled him to blame someone else for the bad things. The economy is cyclical and what happened with the dot.com bust in the late 90s and early 2000s would have happened if Clinton had been elected toa third term. Or it Gore or anyone else had been elected.

Bush's foreign policy still has a chance. It will probably be 20-30 years before we see the outcome of Bush's policy, but I imagine tht history will show that Bush was correct in his approach to Iraq and democracy in the Middle East. In 20-30 years, democracy will be well on its way and the price paid will seem miniscule compared to the benefits derived, both in terms of human rights and economics.

If I'm still around in 20-30 years, the medical staff will probably have me drugged up in some nursing home somewhere and I'll be oblivious to the historical outcome anyway. That being said, democracy and sharia islam are diametrically opposed and there can never be a successful democracy as long as people are under islamic law which enslaves rather than promotes freedom. So democracy in the middle east is a delusion/illusion.

Clinton would have made better use of his testosterone by confronting our enemies rather than young interns.

I like Newt. But the US has had several Presidents who lack character when it comes to marriage. So Newt would be no different than they.
