What NFL rules would you like to see changed?

    1. How about the score for field goals. Currently a FG = 3 points. My ideal would give you 1 point for each full 10 yards the Line of Scrimmge is from the end zone. ie ball on the 42 yard line a FG = 4 points.

    2. On a kickoff, should the ball go into the end zone, and a fair catch called, the ball SHOULD NOT be spotted at the 20. Rather spot it at the point of the catch (or forward motion). If the ball is in the end zone play would commence and no safety would be called as long as forward motion is made.

Okay, lets hear your suggestions. [IMG] [IMG]

I think the NFL should impliment a 1 drink per person rule at the time of purchase. No alcohol should be sold once the second half begins.

Oh, and shirts on fans over 225 lbs should be mandatory!!

Okay, maybe that's not what you intended, but hey, I thought they were good ideas!!!

The pass interference rule needs to be balanced a bit. Used to be able to mug the reciever, now yu can't look at them without getting a flag. Also immediate ejection for idoits with dances, markers and cell-phones. Hey fellas act like you've been there before.

Most severe and game-changing penalties should be modified so the PLAYERS and not the OFFICIALS determine outcome of game.

    For instance
    1. Kick off goes out of bounds. Most kickers WANT the ball close to a sideline, to help defend against a run back. NOW a team gets the ball on the 45! That is a 25 yard penalty. Ridiculous.

    2. Pass interference should be 15 yards, NOT spot of the foul (there is a foul on almost every play if the ref would call it). Sort of like defensive holding; only 15 yards and 1st down.

    3. Mandate at least one token white player among the defensive backs, just like the NBA (88% Black) has a de facto one white rule.

    4. Allow them to take of helmets so we can see them, recognize faces, party when they score, etc.

    5. Stop the "excessive celebration" that goes on when some lineman makes a sack or good tackle. For goodness sake, it's NOT a touchdown - it's just them doing what they get paid to do.

If you want to see football without the forward pass, look no further than Bugaha, where the Cornfed mules, errrrgggg, Cornhuskers play. They haven't had a forward pass in 32 years.

Adopt the rules of the Arena Football League. :D OK, maybe not, but it is pretty exciting to watch with all the scoring and players getting slammed into the wall like in hockey. Fans also get to keep the ball if it goes into the stands like in baseball. The arena football kickers have a lot of problem with the goal posts being only half as wide as the NFL and since there is no punting, they go for it on 4th down a lot more.

I forgot that the Pro Bowl was on this weekend. It looks like they must have played like arena football teams (lots of offense, very little defense) with the NFC beating the AFC 55-52. I can't believe I forgot to watch it. :(

I did watch it - every minute. Extremely entertaining. Only HIGH point in a day when I had to stay home from church because of my condition. Grrrr.

Most of the game was dominated by the AFC, ahead 38-13 and just having fun. But interceptions and fumbles turned it all around.

Manning gave it away worse than Favre did the Pack in the playoffs. Pathetic excuse for a so-called "great" quarterback.

And the odd rules in the Pro Bowl (one-on one coverage and no blitz, etc) gives offenses a time to shine.

I love to have the Sudden Death OTs. But doubt it will happen. Unless it is a playoff game. As people can't stand to watch beyond three to four hour football games. No offense!

What's ridiculous about it? If there was no penalty for kicking out of bounds, that's all they would do. Congratulations, your rule just made the game less exciting.

If pass interference was only 15 yards, then the defense would mug the receiver on every long pass. Congratulations again, your rule change just made the game less exciting.

    This is ridiculous and offensive.

*sarcasm on* I totally agree. It's great fun to watch a receiver being carried off the field after getting mugged. *sarcasm off*

The college football overtime format is an abomination.

Sudden Death OT doesn't totally exist anymore. Peter King and the like successfully lobbied to get rid of sudden death OT and it had nothing to do with the length of time of the game. The generalization you've made is wrong because people don't mind watching long football games.
