http://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html

http://www.onlinebible.net

Make sure you use ".net" on both of them instead of ".com".

You have to download the program and the Bible's seperately, but to install a Bible just download it and run it like a program. It will find the software program and automatically install itself. The next time you run it, the new translation will appear.

If you can stand to read on your computer, this is a cheap and easy way to do it. Some of us don't like to use the net for long reading though, I'm like Dr. Bob in that arena. I would rather have a book that I can hold.

I don't know how to add links, so you can just clip and paste from above.

Skan, I couldn't win a debate with you if it was about the color of my bathtub. :D [IMG]

After having a little time to look through it, I REALLY like the Stronger Strongs. I can already see that it is going to get a lot of use. Thank you!

White! Any other color is liberal! :D :D :D
I like it too. It is the best single resource I can think of for the serious student of the bible. [IMG]

I have Today's Parallel Bible. I carry it to every service, I have it in a black leather Bible Cover, and it's not that bulky. It has the
KJV 1873 edition, which has become my favorite KJV.
the NIV, NLT, and the NASB.

I would suggest that one. I believe Ed has one just like it.

I got the Bible and Cover for around $65.

I frequently have seen KJVO's state that the NIV (and other MV's, for that matter) is actually written at a higher grade-level of comprehension than the KJV. You mean to say that isn't true? :D </font>
Great point LarryN. . .

I once read an article on the NIV written by the translation committee. I believe they were required to use a fifth grade maximum reading level in the translation process. Because this got out, some of the KJVo's grabbed that statement and said they were "dumbing down the Bible".

So, I guess in reality the KJVo groups will use whatever argument fits the question.

In all sincerity, using the scale that the NIV is on a fifth grade level, they claimed to use the same scale that the Reader's Digest is written on a 3 1/2 grade level. If this is all true, I seriously wonder where the KJV 1769 would fit?
</font>
One of those version comparison guides attached to a shelf I saw in a bookstore said the KJV is at the 12th-grade reading level.

My fave is The Precise Parallel New Testament, which contains the Greek, KJV, Douay, NIV, Amplified, NASB, NAB, and NRSV.

I also use The Contemporary Parallel New Testament, which contains the NASB, NCV, CEV, NIV, NLT, NKJV, and MSG (and almost inexplicably, the KJV), but not often.

I more frequently use my Luther-KJV German-English parallel whole Bible.

And of course I love using my e-sword, which has more than three dozen versions loaded!
