Unfortunately, they are the ones who say NIV will be unavailable for a short time!

    Thanks for trying! [IMG]

Why not have them all at once?

    Blue Letter Bible

Go to any verse and click on the "v" beside it and compare all of the translations side by side.

That's an excellent resource, optional, but it doesn't have NIV or ESV.

It is cool, though. Don't get me wrong. [IMG]

Bible Gateway is now defaulting to NASB but it is so riddled with reference indicators that it's a bit hard to read.

if you say they have taken the NIV off the shelf for awhile they must be taking out more scripture. already missing 64,000 words.

    Clint,

Thanks so much! The defaulting to the NASB has been annoying me for just the reasons you mentioned. At least I have the link you gave me. I Just loved Bible Gateway because you could search by word, phrase or verse. Maybe they will get it back soon.

    Chris,

Thanks for the link to ESV, I have been wanting to read that version. Still contemplating getting my own copy. [IMG]

    Optional,

Thanks for the link! Though it doesn't have the versions I was looking for, I have it bookmarked so I can refer to it and try it as well.

Any other good references out there?

Another one that has some good search methods is The Unbound Bible, but it also does not have the NIV or ESV.

Thanks again all! You can never have too many sources to the Word of God! [IMG]

The best source I have found to the word of God is prayerfuly seeking and letting the Holy Spirit guide. and at lest the men who added the words feared GOD enough to let you know that they added the words by showing that that cannt stand up next to GODs word. I just wish Westcote and Hort would have some where maybe at the front or the back let everybody know, these are the verses we omited and all the other words that we felt where not inspired or of any use today.

I cannot know, so I am speculating, but it may be that Bible Gateway has removed the NIV due to the TNIV scandal with IBS/Zondervan. Many evangelicals are refusing to support the NIV any longer.

The site has published a very vague explanation here:

It's back! But you have to click that you agree in how you will use it. It's a copyright issue. I was afraid of that. This whole copyrighting the Word of God and having to have permission to use it! I sure wouldn't want to be standing before the Lord explaining why I didn't give access to His Word to everyone who wanted to read and hear it!!!

If I didn't like the translation so much I would stop using it, but so far I prefer it over most others.

Something I will be in prayer about I am sure!

    ~Lorelei

PS. Do you think it counts as long as all 50 verses aren't in one post????????

That's an interesting twist, to be sure. I'll inquire about how this site is viewed in pertaining to this agreement.

BTW, Lorelei, you should check your PM's from time to time. [IMG]

    Clint,

Thanks, I would be interested to know what you find out.

Also thanks for the other little reminder...got the email feature working now I think too...then I don't have to remember to check them! [IMG]

And so you shall know as soon as I hear from the International Bible Society. For now, I am a bit reluctant to allow citing the NIV on the site.

I wish I had thought to mention what great advertising this site is for a Bible. I asked for an ESV for my birthday because of Tom and Chris trumping it up so much! [IMG]

The request that I sent was by snail mail to Colorado, so I would imagine it will be ten days minimum before I hear anything. Stay tuned, as they say...
