Have you ever heard the statement:

"That would be like letting the fox guard the hen house".

I would just look in the preface of any NIV and there is a point of contact given for the IBS, from which you can get a list of the names of translators and editors.

By the way, I'm sure you know what HankD is getting at. His position looks as though he believes you will use the list to gather evidence to discredit the translators and editors of the NIV. It that the point of the question, or are you doing an objective investigation? (Serious question there - not trying to be insulting)

I already looked in the preface of both NIVs that I have and couldnt find anything.
And I am getting the information for a report I am just finishing on the NIV. Yes I am attacking the NIV in it,but I am doing it in as objective a form as I can. I need it to contrast the King James translators with the NIV translators. I am not going to shade or slant the information I get.
I had no idea the anti-KJVO crowd was so scared of this possibility. If the situations were reversed I would happily provide all the information I could on the KJV translators because since I know that it is Gods Word why would I be scared of someone investigating it? Especially a 16 year-old?
I guess HankD is somewhat scared of me. [IMG] [IMG]

Please don't. Not for my sake because I have never owned an NIV and would only use it if nothing else were available... similar to what Baptists in the mid to late 1600's and early 1700's did when the Church of England forced them to use the KJV by outlawing the "printing, binding, and distribution" of all other versions. The big target was the Geneva.

However, you should never attack a version of God's Word no matter how bad you think it is. People are being saved and sanctified using the NIV. Whether you and I think it is a good version or not, God is blessing people who read, study, and abide by it.
What a comparison that will be!!! There were a few Puritans on the KJV committee and there were some conservative evangelicals on the NIV committee.

Most of the KJV translators were devoted Anglican churchmen and many of the NIV translators were moderate to liberal.

If you are looking for the most fundamental, conservative group of translators, compare to the NASB translators.
I don't think we are scared of a fair, balanced, and truthful comparison. The fear is that you will not be unbiased.

KJVBibleThumper said "I need it to contrast the King James translators with the NIV translators."

I am curious where you are getting your information on the KJV translators.

I would recommend starting with "KJV Translators Revived" by Alexander McClure, "The Men Behind the KJV" by Gustavies Paine, "The King James Bible Translators" by Olga S. Opfell, "God's Secretaries : The Making of the King James Bible" by Adam Nicolson and "In the Beginning" by Alister McGrath.

Now, now, natters. You know full well that if Jack Chick didn't publish or sell it, it just couldn't be the truth...

I had no idea politely asking for references would start such a contreversy. As for these references I have looked at several of them already. But thanks for the others. [IMG]

    He wrote several (comic books).

He also supports several screwballs, of which Riplinger is one.

Jack Chick is a pirveyer of venom, pure and simple.

</font>[/QUOTE]Listen, the King James has been attacked in so many ways on this board its a little late to sanctimoniously say "you should never attack a version of Gods Word" its time you took some of your sides own medicine.

You know its funny that anyone that disagrees with the anti-KJVO is a "screwball" or "ignorant" etc.

Wrong, Thumper! You have seen attacks of the LIE of the King James Version Only myth.

How can you equate honest questioning of the same type that you and your goons...uh, I mean fellow myth-believers...level against the word of God each and every day? What's good for the goose...

Try to get your facts straight. Or are you willing to admit that you and your ilk openly attack the word of God? And , before you try to say that the KJV is the only word of God, so no...forget it. Just because you shout it really loud don't make it so.

    In Christ,

No, anyone who holds to KJVO is "screwball" or "ignorant"...no, wait, ignorance is when you don't know the truth of it, but you have all been told many times over, so 'ignorant you are not...but another word does replace it in that situation...

Here we go again...because I believe that God promised to preserve His Word I am being called a "goon" a "myth believer" and I am being told that I am attacking the Word of God(or one of over a 120 at any rate) yet, calling the King James "outmoded", "archaic", an "inferior translation",
etc is not. Interesting conundrum. This is an amazing example of anti-KJV peoples tolerence for some of their own medicine. [IMG] [IMG]
