It is called the Republican Party down here!

There is a big difference in the "big C" Conservative political philosophy and what people normally think of people who are simply conservative.

    conservative
    [kuh n-sur-vuh-tiv]

    adjective
    1. disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change.
    2. cautiously moderate or purposefully low: a conservative estimate.
    3. traditional in style or manner; avoiding novelty or showiness: conservative suit.

Of course all that goes out the window when a "kuh n-sur-vuh-tiv" gets scared or paranoid, which seems to be most the time these days.

Having the ability to look directly at evidence that runs contrary to the mainstream consensus and not see it should be added to that list. Oh, and the ability to convince oneself that opinion and talking points are actually facts and evidence should probably be included on that list to.

You hit one homer "ponch" with "A Short History of Democrats, Republicans, and Racism" but that is it. Big C Conservatives are neither sceered or paranoid. They simply "man up".

It is the "anti-Stalinist left" turned neocon {quoting the Crab} who are scared and the 'whatever" turned libertarian who are paranoid!

C'mon this is me you're talking to now.

I watched the whole thing unfold.

How conservatives were all about limited constitutional government until the neocons used 9/11 to co opt the republican party to go on the never ending war path.

They wrapped themselves in the flag and scared the limited constitutional conservatism right out of you guys.

Then all of a sudden it was
Now you all complain that a democratic president is using that same big government and unitary presidency you all handed right over to the neocons (no questions allowed!) against you to bring this country down.

But you all knew better than those paranoid libertarians and crazy conspiracy theorists that warned you that you would get what you got if you did what you did. And that's the short version.

Now for the really short version.
