This is what I think, since you asked.

The Bible tells us what things will be like at the end of the age. Some people read those things and notice that we are seeing some of those things happening and thus draw the conclusion that we may be nearing the time of the return of Christ.

One of the differences between Tim LaHay and Harold Camping is that while Camping (of the reformed camp) gives dates. LaHay does not, this in accordance with the teaching of Jesus that no one knows the day.

What Delmar and Gentry do, is they take a novel, a fiction story based on the end times as per the Bible and try to say this is mainline dispensational theology. Tim LaHay has plenty of Bible based theological writings in print but Delmar goes to the made for mass market fiction. If Delmar want to gain some creditability, he would mount a like minded attack on all religious fiction.

    Iconoclast....

It wouldnt surprise me if we are under judgment...or soon will be. We have certainly earned it...

    *Hedonism run amuck

    *acceptance of homosexuality

*We have legalised murder, as long as he/she is in the mothers womb.

(oops, Spoke too soon. If baby killer pulls the fully formed head out, he/she can be killed.)

*The phrase "Under God" has been taken out of the Pledge of Allegience. (Its as if we are BEGGING God to judge us!)

*Transgender freaks are more and more becoming accepted.

I agree with what someone said...

If God does NOT judge us, He must apologise to Sodom and Gomoragh

Yes, this is still a great nation in many ways...but I sure hope God grades "on the curve"

    just musing here...

What IF the judgement of God has started, but was in the Churches of America?

bible warns us that judgement will be in the Church in last day, in House of God, and wonder since we as a group in Church has so wandered from the Biblical moorings founded on...

Cross not taught in many circles, hell even less..
Alernate lifestyles glorified and celebrated by many churches
jesus no longer only way to God
Bible just any other religious book

Could we be seeing God just turning us over to doing what we say is good, yet God calls it evil?

that since we have lost our salt in such a large way, our society literally is "going to hell in a hand basket?"

I don't recall the bible teaching that the church is ever under God's judgment, but rather that the "church" will become apostate. THE church is made up of born again believers and will not be judged.

wasn't there a passage where the Bible tells the world at large that 'how shall you escape judgement if God will even judge His own Church first? judgement begins in the House of God"

Dont think means God judges as regarding salvation within Body, but that God will purge his Church of unclean elements, worldly influences remaining/existing within it...

that any nation is only as strong as the Body of Christ is within it, as we are the salt to preserve the society...

jesus Himself warns if we lose our "saltiness" we will just get trampled under by society, and that seems to be the lot of many of our Churches at this time sad to say!

That's news to me. Most Reformed would not buy him, nor his eschatology.

Besides, even if he is, that doesn't mean he isn't still in error, nor does it mean that's why he's in error.

Have you read any of the books written by these men? What I posted was just a brief article. I think if you listen to or read these men you will see that they make a biblical case against some of the best writers available.
    Here are some examples for you;
    Gary Demar
    http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=4220684831

    http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=3170584010

    Ken Gentry
    http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=1270414136

    http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=12130414559

Thomas.....you or I might not agree with them on any or all things, but I think it is not correct that they do not offer a substantial teaching from the scripture.

Years ago Harold Camping tried to set forth more orthodox teaching.
His teaching on end times was more amillenial......but then he drifted off.

I think at 89 years old....although he is not senile...I think his mind is betraying Him. He recently denied hell, some aspects of the trinity, and now contradicts himself.
When he refused attempts by His church to be corrected and stay within the true teaching of the bible.....it got worse and worse....perhaps God has disciplined him and taken away the clarity of his mind.

No way!! Do you have any links to where he denied hell and the trinity and stuff? I'd love to see that because of that friend of mine who is a Camping-ite. ;) Hey, if I can find anything to get her away from him, it would be good. Unfortunately, even failing at prophesy doesn't matter to her.

I'm reading the Huffington Post live blog on this now:
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/23/harold-camping-speaks_n_865867.html

I don't feel like listening to his voice - he creeps me out.

But I see that he's saying that Saturday WAS judgment but it was a silent one and that October 21st will still be the end of the world. He's horrible.

I have more books from Covenant A-Mills and Preterists than I care to admit to. However, my knowledge of their theology is not the point nor am I trying to say they totally disregard Scripture. In this thread I made the statement which you cannot refute that Delmar and Gentry (and just about any other covenant thinker out there) try to do, with a stright face make dispensationalist look silly by attempting to make the case that their theology is the stuff of dime store fiction.

You of course cannot argue the merits of this reality so you do what your theological heroes do and that is change the subject. The irony is that in trying to impress us with their scholarship, they end up using sophmore debate tactics.

Have you noticed that the covenant A-mills have basically been biting their tongues with respect to camping? If he were a dispy, that is all we would be hearing about.

    JesusFan...

I still say we have earned it. The church in general as well as society in general.

I would estimate that for every strong faithfull church in the USA there are 5 that are in full apostacy.
