My son lives in Wisconsin. Funny story. I was up there visiting him in Madison. He works at as a computer administrator. Anyway, one afternoon he took me to see the state Capitol Building. On the way out, we found ourselves in a protest against Walker. I was stuck in the center of the crowd for an entire four blocks around the building until I found my way out. They were shouting "recall Walker." I was never so glad to get back into a car.

Walker should have asked "Would you all be speaking German if it wasn't for us?"

No, Brits. You are NOT superior. It took a madman called Hitler before you could bring yourselves to put a real leader in charge for once.

Salty, what can I say ... I knew you are a smart fellow. That was my thought. Go to England. Come back. Say, "Look folks, how experienced I am in foreign affairs."

You know, if a candidate is going to a foreign country they should try to learn a bit about the culture and the people before going. Then maybe they could come off as a bit intelligent.

I remember many years ago I read about a politician, a congressman who while visiting Israel asked, "What is this Gaza thing anyway?"

I remember the time an American politician traveled to India and took alone photos of himself bound in cow hide frames. Talk about insulting your guests.

Bush caused an uproar in Europe when he visited Slovakia and did not take his glove off before shaking hands with the Slovakian president. Big no, no in Europe whether it was a cold night or not ... and it was bitterly cold.

But, I do think you are right Salty ... foreign affairs experience. And for the most part we do speak the same language, but even there we can get tripped up. Not all words mean the same thing here as they do in England and vise versa.

and that is the reason the Army has all personnel assigned to Germany go thu Headstart. It is a one week course to learn about German customs, culture and a little bit about the language.

But as far as the politicians - I think its more for show and to pad their resume.

And maybe they even take the kids along for a nice vacation ... go to the theatre, even though it is state subsidized, go to some upscale restaurants and have a good time. If they work it right they can pass the bill off to either tax payers or campaign contributors. Nice work if you can get it.

I guess coming off looking very foolish really does not cost them many, if any, votes here and I doubt they care how much the Brits laugh at them.

Just what foreign affairs did Clinton have before being elected president. I believe he did lead an anti war protest in England. I suspect his other affairs were just that. And then the brilliant Obaamma. what foreign affairs did he have before being elevated to a dictatorship.

i have said for many years, actually since John Kennedy, that democrats wanted a king, now they have one, Barak Hussein Obaamma!

People, he went there on a trade mission to build up Wisconsin exports. It's not a mystery.

The thread is on politicians in general, not a specific person. Sure some go on trade missions. I think that is another name for boondoggle as others have done the work before the politicians head off on the trip. Of course they take all the credit if anything is actually accomplished.

Frankly, I think it is even more important for the politician to gain knowledge about the culture, the government and the people he will visit on such a trip.

Have you ever considered they know about the culture, have likely been briefed about protocol, and deliberately do things that are seemingly uncouth expressly to send a message? Take your example of Bush shaking hands while wearing a glove. Surely he knew the bare-handed tradition, or was told about it. Or Romney seemingly insulting the Brits and their ability to host the Olympics in 2012, or Obama giving prime minister Gordon Brown a bunch of DVD's in the wrong video format, or George Bush Sr. during the Gulf War calling Saddam Hussein, by his first name and pronouncing it "Sad-em", instead of "Sah-Daam", Reagan not wearing a coat when meeting Gorbachev in chilly Reykjavik, etc. etc. It's brinksmanship. We're good at it.

The Democrats are scared because at this time he is a viable threat to anyone who runs against him. The RINOs are scared because he is a conservative with front-runner status already.

Paranoid ? What would that have to do with it ?

And you've really been too dishonest to even enter into a debate. This thread is poking fun at Euroweenies poking fun at christians, and you assigning that to the GOP.

    Pffft.

As soon as you show me where the supreme court made anti-nudity laws illegal.

This is one type of reply that brings much humor into my life. The fellow hasn't read the entire article ... or if he has simply does not understand what he has read. He even seems not to have understood the part about why Republicans are picked on more often. Go back and read it again and try to comprehend.

Also in his reply he assumes that Brits are making fun of Christians. I guess in his mind all Republicans are Christian [note the capital C unlike his mistake in his reply] and maybe even all Democrats who the Brits make fun of are Christian. Who know what he really means.

Then he insults all Brits by calling them Euroweenies. BroC, please do not go to England and call them Europeans. That would be a bad idea. At best they would simply laugh in your face, at worst ..... best not even mention it. Oh, right, you are a conservative Republican, so they will make fun of you.

I do love your nonsense, irrational, off-topic, non-understanding replies. Keep 'em up. Laughter is good for my health ... and yours also if you even manage to laugh.

Not too deep. Evolution. You're making fun of those who don't believe in it.

I'm sure you don't. And you spelled "knows" wrong.

I am a conservative Libertarian. You are a liberal neo-marxist, and not a very smart-one. And I didn't call anyone "Europeans".

Show me where the supreme court made anti-nudity laws illegal, because I've been laughing ever since you told that whopper.

In post # 8 he did.

The Euroweenies wanted him to talk about his thoughts on evolution, he didn't answer, and the Euroweenies wet their collective pantaloons thinking it made him look like a dumb American hick, and gives them license to gloat. And guess which side C.T.Boy is on ?
