Now, Newsweek Loves Bluegrass Family Band Cherryholmes!

Joining a chorus of praise that includes NPR, The New York Times, Billboard, USA Today, and more, Newsweek this week declares their love for bluegrass family band Cherryholmes. On their latest disc, Cherryholmes III: Don't Believe, Newsweek gushes that the band "explodes with exuberant fiddle, expert banjo, and passionate harmonies."

These plaudits are in line with The New York Times, who said the band engages in "ferocious bouts of fiddling." USA Today and Time Out New York were both especially fascinated with Cia Leigh Cherryholmes, the band's eldest daughter and principal songwriter. USA Today called her "bluegrass' most stunning new female singer," while Time Out kept it simple; to them, she's a "future star." Billboard, an outlet that knows all about who's doing well and who's not, sums it all up: Cherryholmes is "one of bluegrass' most successful outfits."

Did I tell you about the afternoon I spent with those folks, about 2 years ago ? What a great family, everyone of them personality plus talent spillin' out of their boots.

Apparently, these folks lost a child, and playing bluegrass together was how they worked thru it.

The dad is an ex-Navy SEAL.

I say God bless them is their success, they worked very hard for this.

Yes, you mentioned meeting them. I enjoyed seeing them in person back in January in Shreveport.

Cia has a great voice and Molly is becoming quite a vocalist as well. And, of course, the family's instrumentation is fantastic. :)
