    http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/

....There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to [email protected] ......

This President has the right to defend himself, his family, his party, and his country against outright lies. I was overseas during the late 1960s defending HIS right to do so.

So I guess I miss the essence of 'i told u so'???

Let me get this straight. You're saying that it's scary that we will have a choice whether to keep our existing health insurance or to go under a government program? What's so scary about that. It wouldn't be scary to you if you were one of the millions of Americans who either can't afford health insurance or can't get it at all due to a pre-existing condition. Feel all smug about yourself but don't give a d___n about those who are suffering? <edited pa-LE>"

There seems to be a bit of a contradiction on the part of the president here.

"For the record, the President has consistently said that if you like your insurance plan, your doctor, or both, you will be able to keep them. He has even proposed eight consumer protections relating specifically to the health insurance industry."

#2 "No Exorbitant Out-of-Pocket Expenses, Deductibles or Co-Pays
Insurance companies will have to abide by yearly caps on how much they can charge for out-of-pocket expenses."

The contradiction: If my current and preferred medical coverage includes a high deductible and high co-pays so that I can keep the cost down how do I get to keep the plan and not pay higher premiums?

#3 "No Cost-Sharing for Preventive Care
Insurance companies must fully cover, without charge, regular checkups and tests that help you prevent illness, such as mammograms or eye and foot exams for diabetics."

The contradiction: If my current and preferred medical coverage is "major medical" only how do I get to keep that plan if the insurance companies are required to cover "regular check ups and tests that help you prevent illness"?

And you must be a partisan hack. For all your crying about the invasion of privacy by the Bush administration, you ignore it when it comes from your hero, Obama. This thread is not about health care, it is about the White House soliciting snitches, y'know, like they did in Nazi Germany.

I am appalled at either the collective lack of intelligence on this board, or the sheer unwillingness to see the point of the O/P. It is pretty well spelled out for all to see.

So any criticism is an outright lie ?

Yeah, I went overseas as well. I did some defending of my own. The White House asking people to be the collective tattletale ?

You guys are making G.W. Bush look downright classy.

    Shame on you.

I'm guessing McCarthy will never be brought up again, since we know the zero is employing his tactics.

Well said as well as accurate.

It does sound like a modern version of Nazi Germany.

I do not believe the whitehouse is intending to flag opposition. I see it is clear that the President is simply wanting to be made aware of arguments opposing his plan that they are not currently aware for the innocent motivation of simply defending against them. Let's not turn everything into a boogie monster.

I do, but you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

Clearly Senator Cornyn is in agreement with me and the thread author , as well.

There's not much I would put past the gangsters occupying the white house. Even less as time goes by.

I think it sets a very dangerous precident. I wouldn't trust a republican with this kind of request, and given the willingness of this administration to break promises, lie about intentions, and demonize opposition, I stand by my original statement that this is a scary, scary request by the White House. I do not trust them.

Yes but we know at least two things about Obama:
    1. He is a liar!
    2. He is a Marxist!

I suggest that everyone, except the Obama apologists, send all their emails to Obama, including spam!

Considering that we're all dangerous extremists now it just seems sort of reasonable that the gubment would want to collect all the information on us it can.

You know, to protect itself. I mean if Bush could have the Total Information Awareness system (love the logo BTW) why can't Obama have a citizen "truth squad"?

Doesn't seem fair though that Obama can have both now that he inherited TIA (or whatever they call it today) from Bush but that's the way the cookie crumbles I reckon.

Don't be surprised if the boy scouts show up at your door with a battering ram if you FWD any emails that oppose Obama's policies.

*Note- for all the humorless out there this was intended as a joke.

You're still too trusting, Rev. Obama is completely and utterly false. To quote Samwise Gamgee, "There's naught in 'im but lies and deceit."

It has nothing to do with trusting Obama. It has to do with her words and what makes sense. There is plenty to be concerned about with this admin but I do not want to look for what is not there. The concern is to be able to go out and refute the many arguments on the internet. Now this admin has been effective in using the internet to get its message out and many have followed suit. Sow now they are accessing the internet to try to quench any arguments against their position. This is a result of the vast outpouring against this particular healthcare reform.

Add to that I do not see keeping track of individuals on this issue benefiting anyone. But what I also see is turning this pebble into a mountain can be effective in distracting from the issue. I want both sides to be honest in this debate. This is not helpful to any stance on reasonable grounds. And if it gets to be to big an issue it will be as sad as it is ridiculous. There are enough real issues out there. And that is my last word on this.
