NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Democrats have long served as the traditional enemy of Big Pharma, but in this presidential campaign, the left is taking the lion's share of drugmaker money.
Democratic senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are the top recipients of donations from the pharmaceutical industry, according to The Center for Responsive Politics, a non-profit, non-partisan research group in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, donations to Sen. John McCain, who was recently endorsed by President Bush as the official Republican candidate, pale in comparison.
Obama maintains a slight edge over his Democratic rival, with $181,000 in Big Pharma donations through Jan. 31, compared with Clinton's $174,000, according to the center. McCain is far behind with $44,000.

When money talks, democrats leave their principles...

 , Yeah, but it wouldn't have gotten your attention!!

Note McCain hasn't gotten as much... YET!

    I can't stand drug companies...
When you go to the Dr.. and you see their drug dealers.... er... reps come in, and try to convince the Drs to prescribe their drugs over others.. I have a problem with them... plus, they take up the Dr's time...

Then all the STUPID drug commercials for different drugs.. then they have to name all the side effects.. including death....YEAH.. I wanna just run out there and convince my Dr to give me a prescription of something someone on TV told me would help me...

Only IDIOTS would tell their dr what they need.....

The DRs are the ones that are qualified to tell us idiots what WE need.

So, I have very low respect for drug companies.. .it is all about money.

Drug companies are what have put us in a health care crisis...

All they are are LEGALIZED drug pushers... you should have seen my kid's pediatrician laugh when I told him that.... He agreed.

He told me about how they court him to prescribe certain drugs.. free banquets, free stuff, bonuses, etc.... and he refuses.

But I wonder how many Drs out there refuse their bribes?

Does yours? That's a question all people should ask their Dr.

So it's alright to get some of their money, just not much. Two pastors engaging in slander and gossip, how revealing!

If you can find a quote where I said such a thing I will apologize for accusing you of being a false witness.

Again you are being a false witness. Good luck with that!

    Slander and Gossip...

First of all, it is not Slander... It is a fact.
Second it is not Gossip... It is a new's story.. on CNN!

Well, on second thought since CNN is ran by the liberal agenda, it might be gossip...

First of all, you presented this story with the intent of making Obama and Clinton look bad, not to report facts.

Second, refer to the first point.

    New rule on BB:

If the posted facts make your chosen look bad, then the poster is posting for the wrong reason and you have every right to call it slander.

(For some unfathomable reason, this new rule smacks of the liberal's favorite new pursuit - hate crime legislation. wonder why?)

Well DUH!!! Of course I want to make the liberal politicians look bad...
    It's called POLITICS!!!

I can't help it if they are inconsistant with their previous stands against drug companies.

I can't help it if the reported facts make them look like the money grubbing politicians they are.

I can't help it if you don't like what I post here...

    OH well.

And to be equally fair, I bet by Nov.. McCain will have accepted alot from the drug companies as well...

    I don't trust politicians...

Ok, two things stand out and they are nothing new in my opinion...

    From the article:

"Since the Democrats took control of Congress in 2006, money has shifted away from Republicans, to the Democrats who hold the keys to the kingdom," said Massie Ritsch, a spokesman for The Center for Responsive Politics. "The pharmaceutical industry is one that would lean Republican if it didn't have to make friends with the party that's in power right now."

    Also from the article:

Paul Alan Davis, manager of Charles Schwab's $800 million healthcare portfolio, which includes holdings in Pfizer (PFE, Fortune 500), Merck (MRK, Fortune 500), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ, Fortune 500), Schering-Plough (SGP, Fortune 500) and other major pharma companies, said he wasn't sure which of the candidates posed the biggest shake-up for the industry - if at all. He also said that the campaign is not a factor in his investment decisions.
"I think it's probably easier to talk about change to get votes than it is to actually change the system," he said.

These two things stand out to me.. One, it's all about the power of washington, it has nothing to do with the party they are attached too.. If the Republicans still held congress then I am sure McCain's amounts would be much much higher...

Also, Paul Davis sumed it all up.... It's all about talking about change and getting votes vers actually doing anything worth while. We have seen that over and over again, we have come to expect to be lied to... Bill did it, George did it.. The next one will do it.. Until we take back out country from these clowns, nothing will change.

Democrat, Republican... what is the real difference? :BangHead:

Both parties are owned by the same people. An honest politician is one who stays bought when you buy him.
