An interesting topic was brought up in another thread. Unfortunately the question kind of got lost amidst attacks on the poster for neglecting to check facts before the OP (like no one else has ever done that :( ).

Anyway, here is the question. The following statement was made:

I was honestly amazed at the claim. Could we look at the veracity of the claim. Exactly what descriptions does he fit? All of them?

One claim was that Anti-Christ comes from East. Obama is from Hawaii. Of course if you go far enough east any place is east of Israel, but does that qualify?

Another claim is that "everyone loves him." If that is the case why is he struggling to gain one party's nomination in one country's election? If "everyone loves him: why is there opposition?

The only other claim is that he is the answer to America's problems. First I don't see how that can be a Bible description, and second, does anyone really claim he is "the answer?"

Does Obama fit every description from the Bible of the Anti-Christ?

One major disqualifier for me is, Married With Children! Sorry about the yelling but this should end all questions. However, it is possible that he could be one of the ten kings that Antichrist will promote during his time in power.

Well, I dont care fpr Obama and his liberal politics, but Anti-christ? that is really reaching dont you think?

I, personally think that if the anti-christ emerges in our current culture, that he will come from the charismatic movement. The Bible says that he will produce miracles and that the world as a whole will love him.

100 years ago the world would have laughed at miracle producing evangelists and they would have no following. But today, many millions are falling into the Hinn/Olsteen type ministries. They claim to include everyone no matter what you believe and they promise miracles.

In my humble opinion, this movement is paving the way for the anti-christ, not Obama.

==People were saying the same thing about Bill Clinton in '92. Nobody will know who the antichrist is until the restrainer has been removed (2Thess 2:3-10). Nobody knows who the antichrist is and, think about this, the person who will become the antichrist probably does not even know it at this time (if he is alive). Also, since Satan does not know "when" the tribulation will begin, even he does not know who the antichrist will be. Therefore naming people who might be the antichrist is a waste of time.

Does Obama fit? No, he is not from Rome (Rev 13:1, 17:9-10, Dan 9:26).

I have a couple of problems with what was done. One was the issue of factual correctness (covered in the other thread).

The other was one regarding what Christ told us about the end times. Granted, we are to live and conduct ourselves as if Jesus is coming back today.

However, Christ was quite clear that with regards to the precise timing of His return, then it was (and this is the rbell paraphrase) "none of our business."

I think the Antichrist is ancillary to that issue....should we be wise, and be prepared when he comes? Of course. Are we to get into the prognistication business? I think the same concept applies: It's none of our business with regards to timing. We should just be faithful and conduct ourselves as if it's going to be today.

I always thought someone like Oprah fit the bill... someone with power and influence over others and that is well liked...

I agree on the "waste of time" part, although, however, I did not see "Rome" mentioned in any of the verses you cited.

I do think that "the people of the prince that shall come" does logically refer to the people that made up the Roman Empire, which did destroy Jerusalem in 70 A.D., but these "people" were certainly not limited to the Italian Peninsula, as "Rome", in that day stretched all the way from present day Iraq on the east; to Hadrian's Wall and the Straights of Gibralter on the west, and included most of Western Europe, thru Southern Denmark; and including parts of the former Soviet Union, on the North, and Northern Africa, and much of the Asian part of the Mideast, as well, on the south. It did not include the rest of Scandanavia or Ireland - sorry, C4K, and a couple of others!

These varied "people" have literally migrated and settled, becoming the dominant ethnicities, over a much greater area than even this, centering in the nations that today, make up NATO, and all the Americas, so I sugest that the possibilities are pretty widespread, as to what particular individual might 'qualify' as the Anti-Christ, whom I don't even think is revealed, as long as the church is around, prior to the rapture. And from what I am able to ascertain, not even the "poorest excuse" of any Christian, anywhere, of any time, past, present, or future, is any possibility, at all. Not one. And Barak Obama, as is Hillary Clinton and John McCain, and just as George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H. W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, et. al., all claim and appear to be 'Christians'. How much of a "poor excuse" or "outstanding person of faith", or anything in between, any or all the above is, was, is not, or was not is something I will leave for the Lord to judge and evaluate.

I like your Eddie Fisher act. I had brown hair and all the girls smiled at me as I went by. Well that was in the past, now hair is gray and all the girls ( wife daughters and granddaughter) smile and have their hand out for money and say we will be back later, you should find something to eat in the icebox, oh, that isn't around any more. What a world!!!
