"The picks say something profound about Obama: For all his self-confidence, the 47-year-old Illinois senator worried that he couldn't beat Republican John McCain without help from a seasoned politician willing to attack. The Biden selection is the next logistical step in an Obama campaign that has become more negative _ a strategic decision that may be necessary but threatens to run counter to his image."

Historically, it has been the role of the vice presidential nominee to be the attack dog during the general election. Thus, there is nothing surprising about Senator Obama's selection of someone capable of fulfilling this role.

Is this the verse you're quoting?

Lk 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

Because one Christian interprets scripture different from you, does that make them wrong or just different?

Obama doesn't believe in same sex marriage as you say, he believes in civil unions which is not the same as same sex marriage. He is also not pro abortion, he is pro choice.

Because one is not as strongly against abortion as you doesn't make them pro abortion, some of us just believe this is the land of the free and part of that freedom means someone will make a decision or choice in their life that I don't believe in or would choose for myself. I am free to worship my God and raise my children as I think best and they currently are free to kill their unborn child (depending on when you believe life begins).

I see many Christians who feel so strongly about abortion yet never make an effort to help the living children that are being abused or the multitude of Children dieing of starvation or lack of medical access each day. What about the children in this country, not to mention the millions living abroad that have never seen a doctor or are dieing of illnesses which we have a cure. Instead some of those same Christians push to stop welfare, Medicare and AFDC which in a lot of cases is the only chance of nourishment or medical help some of these children will get. We falsely believe we can get a $1 back on our taxes and have "less" government if we cut off their medical and food source. How naive, you ain't getting that $1 back. They'll just shift it somewhere else.

So we can justify starving and killing these children because of the life choices their parents made but draw the line at that same parent choosing not to have the child. Oh, but none of this is as bad as abortion? That saying one life is more valuable than another.

Don't hide behind a president, abortion law or court decision, if you really feel so strongly about saving children then get out there and feed the starving or educate the young and sexually active. That's legal you know...

Show me one candidate that exhibits all the characteristics or "fruit of the spirit" and I will change my vote. Show me the candidate that has received a charge before the burning bush and I will change my vote. Until then, we are all choosing the lessor of evils according to our conscious. I like the fact that Biden is an exemplary family man even though like the rest of us, he does have flaws.

Excuse my rant OP but I get tired of people telling me I'm not a Christian [inappropriate language snipped]

Obama voted against the "Born Alive Act' twice. When you support the freedom to make a choice to slaughter a child in the womb you are pro abortion period.

Debating when life begins is a waste. You can't "kill" somethign that is not life.

Who are these "Christian" you have characterized here?

Running benevolence through the government is poorest way to accomplish this goal. It unnecessarily adds to the costs and much of it never reaches the intended people. It is poor stewardhsip and not necessary. Unless you want to use force to impose the giving of this benevolence ina a way that you refuse to force those who would slaughter their chiild in the womb. Rather inconsistent position isnt it.

So who are these that justify starving people? You have failed to prove such exists.

Again you have not shown or proven who these fallacious people are?

Mudering the child in the womb does not qualify for this.

Unitil it comes to the child in the womb. Then Biden is not so family oriented.

God is certaily grieved at the holocaust in this country. Which has nothing to do with how you see things. Truth is truth.

It would be foolish for anyone to attack Senator Biden on family values. Anyone who is familiar with him knows that the way he has conducted himself with his family over the decades puts people like Rush Limbaugh and John McCain to shame.

Abortion is a selfish act, not a family oriented one. How can Biden truely be pro family when he supports killing unborn members of the family?

I find it amazing how some Christians attack liberals over political positions even though a liberal such as Senator Biden conducts his family life the way that Christians say it should be done while they defend folks like John McCain and Rush Limbaugh over political positions even though folks like him conduct their family life in a way that Christians say it shouldn't be done.

Are there any other issues besides abortion and gay marriage that involve biblical standards? Most Christians that are politically liberal agree that abortion and gay marriage go against biblical principles, yet they claim that people like Biden should be supported anyway because of the other issues.

What other issues are there that go against bible doctrine?

Iraq? That position, no matter which side you take, is merely opinion.

    Immigration? Opinion

    Economy? Opinion

    Patriot Act? Opinion

    Government funded social programs? Opinion

    Unions or right-to-work? Opinion

The only two issues that clearly go against biblical principles are abortion and gay marriage.....and Biden supports both.

Anyone who knows the biography of Senator Biden knows he is the family man that many Christians strive to be and that people such as Senator McCain and Rush Limbaugh are nowhere near to.

Biden: I don't think the government can dictate the definition of marriage to religious institutions. But government does have an obligation to guarantee that every individual is free of discrimination. And there's a distinction. I think government should not be able to dictate to religions the definition of marriage, but on a civil side, government has the obligation to strip away every vestige of discrimination as to what individuals are able to do in terms of their personal conduct.

Sounds like he supports government civil unions, and religious marriage....thats alot of nonsense. "Civil union" is just another word for marriage.

Biden: Joe Biden believes legal recognition should not be denied same-sex couples. He advocates for re-examining federal laws, including the tax code, to ensure our national laws are not unfair to same-sex couples, and that committed adults who are adopting are not discriminated against because of sexual orientation. He supports letting states determine how to recognize civil unions and define marriage.

He definately supports equal lrgal status between gay couples and normal people. (might as well call it marriage) I especially object to allowing gay couples to adopt children. I believe that we, as Christians have an obligation to protect children as best we can, from the unbiblical influence of homosexuality.

Biden: According to recent polls, 3/4 of veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan said that they had no problem serving with openly gay people. 24 of the nations serving alongside US forces in Iraq permit open service which has had no negative impact on these forces or the morale of our brave soldiers. Finally, the US does not have enough troops to fulfill our current missions--it is ridiculous to turn away brave and patriotic Americans who volunteer to serve solely because of their sexual orientation--especially in light of the Defense Department's recent decision to extend tours of duty in Iraq. Sen. Biden believes that we should treat everyone serving in the military by the same standards regardless of orientation.

As a veteran, i especially object to this stance.

I spent many nights in a two man foxhole with another man. I lived in close quaters with other men, and shared latrine and shower facilities with them. It would be a real problem for them to have put me in a foxhole, shower or room with a gay guy.

We have seperate facilities for men and women because of the natural physical attraction between the two. Where do we place folks with same sex attractions? If you throw gays in with normal people, then you might as well make all the latrines and living facilities co-ed.

Having open gays in the military will only cause problems and hurt moral.

    Biden comes out fightin!

I will try to get the YouTube video later but the line is priceless.

about John McCain having 7 kitchen tables really worked and how John McCain
went against his Mavericks ways and embraced people he does not even respect such as Hagee and Dobson again that is so true, John McCain and that classic picture of him in that hug of Bush just paints a thousand words.

I think Bidens "Get Up and Work Hard!" character shows and the Abortion question gets demagogued beyond WWJD.

As a part of a crop of evangelicals tired of the Demagoguery, I see the reduction in abortion as a consensus goal in which the nation can agree on. The polls reflect that, all of America reflects that, Obama/Biden are for its reduction and not its increase.

Fact: Just because Roe vs Wade will be overturned means abortion will not stop, I thought people knew this?I thought people knew it would go back to the individual states to decide? I think most people here are under the impression it will outlaw abortion, it will not.

as a new evangelical the whole should be on the table, stewardship of planet,poverty,pro-life, feeding the hungry, and free will to choose Jesus when revealed.(Yes, I like Rick Warren)

Joe Biden has it, he knows loss and tragedy but still got up and fought not feeling sorry for himself but being a non-millionaire public servant.

now for John McCain if he chooses Mitt Romney I believe people like me cannot vote for him because I do believe Mormonism is a cult and defines Jesus differently I will not compromise Jesus, I do not hate Mormons some of my friends are Mormon but they have a different Gospel.

The way I see it is there's two sides to this issue The ones who believe and do there best to follow what the bible say's Christ followers are supposed to live. And the other side Justifies why they're way is better.
