This should be no surprise to any of us. We will soon learn, if we don't already know, this is a very dangerous man.

OH yeah, he is soooo dangerous. He will likely allow the NSA to spy on your phone calls, break into your house, check on what you read from the neighborhood bookstore or library, and declare you an enemy combatant outside the reach of defense counsel. Oh...wait....that's already been done! Never mind.

No wonder he and Oprah are friends.

    :jesus: is the only way!

I won't say he's dangerous, but he's as lost as last years' easter egg.

If someone is spying on your phone calls, breaking into your house, checking on what you read and declaring you an enemy combatant, I would not admit it if I was you.

You must be involved in something you shouldn't be if that is happening to you.:tonofbricks:

Sure glad that it's not happening to me!

    Good luck though,
    Dave

Your argument does not stand up. If we don't know if they are, we cannot say that they are or will do it.

It has always been intriguing to consider conspiracy theories and the fear of "Big Brother".

I continue to hear of the types of theories you believe but never with proof, names, times, etc.

I have no bone to pick with you over this issue but many have been more critical of this government then supportive of it.

    Why all the paranoia?

    Definition:
Paranoia is an exaggerated distrust of others that is not based on fact.

Dave it is not paranoia or conspiracy theories. Search this board ... I have posted links to a case where such things happened here in Denver and a courageous book store owner fought back.

Have you actually ever read the so-called USA PATRIOT Act? The things I have described have happened as this corrupt administration has violated privacy and liberty in the name of defending liberty. Sort of like having sex to promote virginity.

If Senator Obama was running for national pastor then his religious views would be of concern to me. However, he is running for the secular office of president of the United States; thus, his religious views do not factor into my vote for him on November 4.

Absolutely correct, as usual, Ken! I am a proud to be a supporter of Senator Obama. I voted for him at the caucuses, and will be voting for him in November, as I expect he will win the Democrtic nomination. Yes, I preferred Senator Edwards, but that was not to be. Unless a brokered convention brings him back.

I do not agree on many of the things he supports such as abortion. I could no sooner vote for a person who supports the extermination of the unborn than I could going to a doctor who performs these unspeakable acts.

But all of us have the right to choose the kind of person we want to lead this country.

This is not a forum to debate politics so I'll bow out now.

I will say that I am surprised to see how supportive you are of a person like Obama. Oh Well??

If this is the type of site you frequent it makes sense why you believe as you do. After looking into the types of groups that the "Tattered Cover" aligns itself with there is no question that it leans way left bordering on the extreem. It has been nice talking to you, though.

    See you around the forum,
    Dave

Actually the Tattered Cover is a mainstream bookstore, much like a Borders or B&N...just locally owned. They have no political leaning as a business. They carry all kinds of books. I applaud the owner for standing up to the government. What types of "groups" are you talking about?

Do you want your local bookstore handing over your purchase records for a govt. fishing expedition?

First, GW Bush believes the same thing. Second, this guy is nowhere close to being as dangerous as Bush is. I just hope we make it until we have new President.

This had nothing to do with any patriot Act or the Bush administration. It had to do with finding more proof on drug dealing suspects. Following are highlights of the court papers:

“The following facts, most of which are undisputed, are gleaned from the record of the hearing below. As part of an ongoing drug investigation, the Thornton police and an agent of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration ("DEA"), Diversion Investigator Timothy McFarland ("DI McFarland"), were cooperatively monitoring a trailer home in Thornton in March of 2000.

These law enforcement officials suspected that a methamphetamine lab was being operated out of the trailer. Officer Randy Goin was the lead investigator on the case.

In the trailer’s master bedroom, the police found a methamphetamine laboratory and a small quantity of the manufactured drug. Because of the location of the lab, the question of which suspect or suspects resided in the master bedroom became the focus of the police’s investigation.

The two books seized from the master bedroom were entitled Advanced Techniques of Clandestine Psychedelic and Amphetamine Manufacture, by Uncle Fester, and The Construction and Operation of Clandestine Drug Laboratories, by Jack B. Nimble. Officer Goin noticed that the books appeared to be new.

DI McFarland thought that there might be a connection between the Tattered Cover mailer found in the trash and these two new books. Officer Goin then noticed that the new books appeared to fit the dimensions of the mailer.

Officer Goin searched the Tattered Cover’s webpage and discovered that it offered both books for sale. He and DI McFarland then served the Tattered Cover with a DEA administrative subpoena. This subpoena demanded the title of the books corresponding to the order and invoice numbers of the mailer, as well as information about all other book orders ever placed by Suspect A.

Using such a subpoena was ordinarily a successful technique for DEA officers, though such a subpoena lacks any legal force or effect.”

As I have experienced the twisting of facts to fit a person’s beliefs has raised its ugly head again. Some people will do what they can to discredit the conservatives by misrepresenting the truth.

I am not suggesting that you are doing that but those who you believe are.

So we can mark you down as being FOR the government snooping on what books you read? Got it!

Again I ask...have you read the USA PATRIOT Act? It allows such unauthorized searches, unbenownst to the subject.
