The comparison was made, by Obama, that there is little difference between Capitalism and Communism. Obama is an idiot.

Further the Communism of today is different from the day of Marx.

Rightly or wrongly, many will not think of Communism in the same terms as Karl Marx. They will think of what it has morphed into over the last +/- 150 years.

What is worse and the point of this thread is our President, who the far left thinks is brilliant, says there is little difference between Capitalism and Communism.

The troll bait has been cast upon the water, and it waits for all of us to take the bait.

He knows you are right Rev. Ignore his attempts to hook and reel you in. He can't help it, he is standing up for his guy(s).

    I liked you OP. Shalom!

This president is either a neo-commie, or he doesn't know better. That is a subject for another OP!

So many people on this board, I see, are fighting the last war.

Capitalism vs. communism is a dead horse. There are very few communists left. Russia isn't communist (a mixture of crony capitalism and a resurgence of the Russian Empire); China is an authoritarian regime espousing state capitalism. North Korea, Vietnam and Cuba (looks like Venezuela is off the wagon now) are communists. Not exactly systems anyone wants to emulate.

Did you really expect that Obama would talk to the Cuban people and tell them to overthrow communism? I really thought the folks here would have more faith in capitalism than to worry that "do what works" would recommend communism over capitalism. Isn't, by definition, "what works" capitalism?

Oh you mean like the redistribution of wealth. Take money from the masses and give to the elite?

No, you are confusing Communism with the Republican Party and their goal, and sadly it has been successful for at least 15 years of redistribution of wealth from the poor and middle class to the super rich and protecting corporations. But, sadly, in the long run they are killing the goose that lays the golden egg, the middle class.

Uh, CBT, the irony is that they all do it to some extent, communist, GOP, DEMs, that is my point :)

Some people have gotten very rich from the Obama/Federal Reserve stock market. Poor whites never do well under the Democrats, however--especially poor whites in rural areas.

CMG - As a child my family was very, poor well into the poverty level - nothing changed going from the Truman administration (DEM) to the Eisenhower administration (GOP) but then again we lived in New Orleans in a housing project while my step dad was in jail. If it had not been for the Catholic Church, the Salvation Army and the Free Masons we would have been even worse off. Private charitable organizations seemed to help us as much or even more than any level of government.

Yes, private charities do great work and help people very much. I think they are great and applaud them.

I grew up in an area where there were very poor people. Without gardens some of my classmates would have starved. Meat came from butchering hogs, curing the hams, etc.

My wife and I were very poor when we were first married. We debated two weeks whether we could afford a .25 cent pack of playing cards. We made presents for people at Christmas. We had to be careful with out money. We used the envelope system. No one can deficit spend an envelope. When the cash is gone it is gone. We did not even consider a credit card; paid cash for our first car, $250.00 for a 54 Ford ... it was a great car.

Perhaps I am more sensitive and sympathetic with the poor because of our experiences ... and also the teachings of Christ. I am more into grace than in retribution.

No one should be more in to grace nor more into retribution. There is a time and occasion for each one. During those occasions such as grace, then grace should not be ignored for the other. During the occasion for retribution neither should it be ignored for grace. Grace is not always appropriate, neither is retribution. We need to do what is appropriate at the appropriate time. This is God's design not ours.

I will leave retribution to God and to His wisdom.

I will extend grace. Christ said we are to love out enemies. We are to help the poor. We are to take in the stranger. We are to aid the sick ... etc., etc. The Golden Rule certainly speaks to grace rather than retribution.

As for me and my house we will extend grace.

He certainly said all of those things. However, that is not all He said. God's word is not a buffet.
