Obama Has Al Qaeda "On the Run"

Al Qaeda-inspired militants in Iraq vowed Thursday to march against Baghdad after seizing two key northern cities, sparking fear among residents in the capital who rushed to stores to buy up goods. In Baghdad, hundreds of young men surrounded an army recruiting center after authorities issued calls for help in the fight against the ISIS, The Guardian reports.

The group – under its former name of Al Qaeda in Iraq -- was classified as a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department in 2004.

Meanwhile, in Iraq’s second largest city of Mosul – which the ISIS captured much of on Tuesday – militants paraded American Humvees seized from Iraqi forces who evacuated the area, according to Reuters. Witnesses told Reuters that helicopters captured by the ISIS also flew overhead, apparently the first time the group has obtained aircraft in years of fighting.

The militants have gained entry to the Turkish Consulate in Mosul and are holding captive 48 people, including diplomats, police, consulate employees and three children, according to an official in the office of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

On Wednesday, militants also took Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit. As in Mosul, the Sunni militants were able to move in after police and military forces melted away following relatively brief clashes, yielding ground once controlled by U.S. forces.

Listening to the radio this morning. It is amazing that some are still blaming George Bush.

Bush did the right thing throughout his management of the Iraq war, except for the few months he failed to listen to his commanders and wound up having to send more troops into the country to put down the resistance. His end-game timetable was to leave military advisors and private contractors in Iraq to help the Iraqis provide their own security, and to rebuild infrastructure. This Marxist traitor in the White House just decided to pack everyone up and bring them home ...

    ... oh ...

... except for the Iraqi vets on their fourth and fifth tours whom he sent to Afghanistan. [IMG]

Two of my news blogs are reporting Iran has sent some of it's Elite Revolutionary Guard to bolster Iraqi government efforts to push back ISIS' recent gains. When I see one that doesn't charge to read it I'll link it.

    Really?? Well that's interesting.

Slightly OT, I've seen both ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) and ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) used as acronyms for this group. Which is "correct"? Or are they really the same, just a translation preference?

Barry just needs to go over and graciously bow to the ISIS leader and apologize for all the evil America has done to the poor ole Islamic radicals over the past 25 years and all will be well again.

The only things Obama has on the run is freedom and the American economy.

But wait. What about Boko Haram? Aren't we supposed to be paying attention to them and Kim Kardashian instead of ISIS and our weak/inept president? CAN'T WAIT UNTIL HE IS GONE. And here I thought the Muslims would start loving us since we gave them back 5 of their leaders.

Which will be to your liking, apparently. That's what I gather from the poll thread you started this morning.
