And since the Dem's don't have 60 in the Senate they still need Republican support to pass legislation. That is the significant of the 60 the Dem's hope they get this election, it will take away the Repub's ability to filibuster.

Majority gives you control of debate and committee appointments - it is vital.

If you go to the 60 count, then there have been very few times in history that any party has had 'control.'

That would even more disprove LE's contention. If the Dems did not have 60 votes this mess certainly can't be their fault.

That is certainly one view and I respect your right to it. But from where I sit, this crises is just reaching Wall Street. You can see the empty ruins of the steel mills and the large number of unemployed on main street has been with us for a while. I stand by my view that lack of jobs is causing the problems on both streets. If we can get people working they will pay their mortgages and other debt's.

You dont get it. Bush is not running. Stay on task. Obama is gong to increase this unconstitutional practice in a much greater way beyond dangerous levels. He is a marxist and unqulafied to be President because of this.

I have told people for years that Bush is more liberal than conservative. I have told people for years the Republicans in congress have been corrupted by their power.

That doesn't change the fact that Obama is a liberal with deep seated socialist leanings. That doesn't change the fact that both houses of congress are currently controlled by liberal democrats with deep seated socialist leanings.

My only hope is that McCain will be a man of his word and try to control government spending. He has a record of that. And he has a record of being an honorable man.

Obama, what little we have seen of him, has already proven himself to be unable to tell the truth on many important issues. If he has proven himself to be a liar, and he has, why do you think he's telling the truth on cutting taxes?

If you think you're going to get a tax cut, you aren't thinking straight. There is no chance the Dems will give anyone a tax cut. All you will see is more government control over your life.

And when you complain, Obama and the Dems will treat your just like they're treating Joe the Plumber.

When you get it, remember you voted for it.

    peace to you:praying:

I have to admit, you have a new scare tactic but none the less ineffective. The only new program he is suggesting is health care and that's in response to the a national crises. People need health care and need it now.

Bush' conservative ideology IS running in this election which is what is referred to as the last 8 years. McCain will continue that ideology and has said he will cut corporate taxes in an attempt to create new jobs. We've been doing that for the last 8 years and just lost another 160K jobs last month alone. Perhaps cutting corporate taxes is not that good an idea?

Which word? He changes proposals and directions with every rally. Whatever became of those 6 points he exclaimed the day after the crises was announced? Whatever happened to their program of change? What ever happened to being a reformer that would "shake" Washington up? Haven't heard those in a long while. If he would stick to one set of proposals perhaps people would know what word we hope he sticks to.

Obama has said he will raise the top 5% taxes when he entered the primaries and is singing that same song at rallies today. The only thing I've seen McCain stick to is Ayres and ACORN.

True conservative ideology has not been in the white house for 8 years. You have already acknowledge Bush has been pushing a big government agenda. That is not conservative ideology.

Conservative ideology limits the federal governmnet, puts more authority in the hands of the State and Local governments, limits the size of the federal government, limits taxes and limits spending at the same time.

The only time we saw anything close to conservative ideology in action was in 1995 and 1996 when the republicans controlled congress and Bill Clinton adopted the Contract with America as his own. The legislation that passed balanced the budget when most everyone was saying it couldn't be done, it reformed welfare when the dems cried foul.
Actually, Obama supporter and Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakan is the one who has declared Obama to be the "messiah".

Actually, Obama supporter Oprah declared Obama to be "the One", in tears.."the One".

Actually, Obama's parents declared him to be a muslim when they enrolled him in the school in Indonesia. He was clearly raised as a Muslim, since both his biological father and then his step-father were Muslims.

    peace to you:praying:

Conservative ideology gives tax breaks to corporations who send American jobs overseas and say it's good for our economy. :BangHead:

McCain went wrong when he said he will give the corporations more tax cuts as a way to stimulate the economy. That is something the struggling people on main street didn't want to hear. They've seen these tax cuts and their jobs move off their street for too long.

We have seen how they deal with a Republican shill that McCain's campaign was using to further their candidate's chances. They don't care about this guy. They're using him despicably.

Corporations work on margins. They expect a certain percentage of return on the investments they have.

When government raises their taxes, they simply pass their new taxes on to their customers or they cut their costs by cutting employees. Their customers pass the higher prices on to consumers. Consumers get higher prices on the goods they purchase.

What Obama and dems are doing is playing class warfare with America. They are pitting Americans against Americans as a way to generate votes. This is, by the way, the socialist playbook for introducing socialism into a country. You turn the employees against the employers, and then, when chaos becomes rampant, the government takes over.

And the uninformed will say, "Let's stick it to those big corporations, they deserve it. Let the government run the place, they're on our side."

Before you know it, you'll be waiting in line for four hours to get a loaf of bread. You'll be waiting two or three months to get your gall-bladder out because you're not a priority. You'll go to get you're cancer treatment and, after waiting 8 hours, they'll tell you the medicine didn't come in. (all of the above are true stories).

I'm not for government subsidies to anyone, including those companies that send their jobs overseas.

The answer, however, is not to elect a socialist liberal like Obama. If you think its bad now, you haven't seen anything yet.

    peace to you:praying:

Obama and the dems mocked and laughed at a common man who dared to ask Obama a question the media didn't have the desire or guts to ask.

The only thing despciable is the way Obama and the dems have mocked and laughed at him, and yelled "put him out of business". They have no shame.

    peace to you:praying:

Class warfare? That's a ridiculous overstatement. They're talking about tax policy. You know that the extreme difference in wealth between the haves and the have-nots was one of the distinguishing characteristics in the 1920's right before the '29 crash and the Great Depression. Now we're seeing it again as a result of the disastrous Bush administration. The middle class is vanishing. Pretty soon we'll have just the poor and the rich. You know, as in

Buddy can you spare me a dime?

As Rev would say, now these are good campaign talking points...

Now, show me one company that has cut or added a job exclusively from a tax increase/decrease? That is the biggest. oldest scare tactic in the books. Any company that has to fire employee's because of a 3% tax hike wasn't stable and was going to loose employee's either way.

The Clinton's have admitted this was a mistake and said they would do it different if they had the chance. I agree, NAFTA was a liberal black eye for the country.

Meanwhile, lowly Joe the Plumber has brought more focus to these terrible socialistic plans of Obama than a thousand newspapers could have done IF they had been impartial. Joe the Plumber represents the average working American.

For those of you on here belly aching about how bad the economy is under GW Bush, I would like to remind you that you aren't living under a bridge and you obviously still can afford Internet service and probably cable or satellite TV and electricity. I also doubt if any of you have missed too many meals during the past 8 years, so things haven't been as bad and aren't as bad as you pretend it is, so let's get real and cut the hyperbole. It's really getting deep. Maybe we need to call Joe the Plumber, lol.

Correction, we live on top the bridge, waiting for a spot under the bridge to open up. I free load internet from Starbucks, electricity from the sun and put aluminum foil on the wife and kid for satellite TV.

On a serious note, about 30% of the Church is under or unemployed in the last few years. The off shoring of jobs hit this area hard since we had a lot of call center/help desk type positions. They also closed two Military post in the area and we seem to be a hot spot for illegal immigrants. I took a voluntary cut in pay to keep the Church a float.
