Obama putting military in harm's way

    A military advocacy organization is not happy with President Barack Obama's plans to drastically cut defense spending by $53 billion.....

    "The president is taking away from a $1.5 billion budget for detecting IEDs, $1 billion. Seventy-five percent of that budget will be removed," he points out. "If those programs aren't in place, more of our soldiers will be lost to terrorists trying to kill [them]."

    A smaller, and less funded military will be easier to rival with a civilian "security force."

    This $53 billion dollars is spread out over how many years? If it is over the next ten years that isn't exactly a whole lot of money compared to the $5 to $6 trillion we will spend on national defense during the next ten years.

    The Obama budget will increase the size of the Army and the Marines.

    Overall, the Obama Defense budget increases 4% per year.

    I haven't heard of many liberals that believe in beefing up our military or using our military to protect our borders. Usually, they just send most of our military to work for the U.N.

    1 billion is not 75% of 1.5 billion. Brian Wise needs to learn to do math!

    I also see the one trick ponies have been let out of their pens for the expected comments of "civilian security force" and "third world country".

    No, he's working to actually restore good relationships with our former allies like the NATO countries so we don't have to be the supreme ruler of the universe any more.

    Yea, we can thank Bush for many senseless American and Iraqi deaths. Maybe that's why some on Air America are calling for a inquiry into the murders of the past administration. Maybe they are right.

    Bring all our troops home now. Stop installing bases in foreign countries. Stop funding both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian war. Stop our interventionist policies worldwide. Stop using our troops as political pawns.

    Our only interests overseas should be keeping shipping lanes open.

    Why should we. We already spend as much on our military as the rest of the world combined. How much do YOU want, 90% of our GNP? Why?
