President Obama's job approval rating has fallen to 46 percent, according to a new CBS News poll.

That rating is Mr. Obama's lowest yet in CBS News polling, and the poll marks the first time his approval rating has fallen below the 50 percent mark. Forty-one percent now say they disapprove of Mr. Obama's performance as president.

In last month's CBS News poll, 50 percent of Americans approved of how the president was handling his job, while thirty-nine percent disapproved.
    ..

...........Just 41 percent now approve of his handling of the economy, which Americans say is the nation's most pressing issue. Forty-seven percent disapprove. The president's marks on handling health care, with reforms still under debate in Congress, are even lower – just 36 percent approve, while 54 percent disapprove. Both of these approval ratings are the lowest of Mr. Obama's presidency.

1st time this low in a CBS poll.

Rasmussen has had him at 44% a couple of weeks ago. Things are getting bad when liberal proprietary polls like CBS have the zero this low.

He don't care. He is fully prepared to take the reins when this nation is subjected to absolute despotism.

I'd be curious to see how many Presidents dipped below 50% before their 1-year inaugural anniversary...

I absolutely can't stand Obama. However one thing that is slightly hypocritical of many of the conservative talking heads that keep pointing to his low approval is this. The primary reason it has dropped this low is health care reform. One could say that he is staying the course for what he believes is best for this country regardless of the negative consequences to his personal political career. Similar to what Bush was praised for doing with the war when his polls were nosediving. Many of the same talking heads I hear now touting Obamas low polls with glee, called it principled when Bush was sticking to something he believed in that lowered his approval polls.

That said I hope with numbers like these it helps the republicans take back as many seats as possible in the next elections.

Seems like every President goes from hero to goat, after their first year of office.

That really isn't the same. Going to war was a by-partisian decision and later the domocrates got weak in the stomach and pulled back. Health care has been all partisian from the get go, even though Obama promised by-partisianship and transparency (Hope and Change, remember?). The independants and moderates fell for the "Hope and Change" speaches and now have deep buyers remorse, but it is too late, Obama does not care about re-election or any promisses he made. He is a socialist and plans on doing as much damage to capitalism as he can before he gets the boots.
