A continuation of the thread, O'bamas National Police

That's right, and Obama wants a "security force" who answers only to himself.

Our founding fathers provided for a security force in the Second Amendment. In a testament to the effectiveness of the liberal agenda, we've been brainwashed into thinking that we have no right to use deadly force to protect our lives and property, from our own government if need be.

WE are the civilian security force that can rival any army. Look to see efforts at whitling more away from the Second Amendment.

I do not get how it is he connects Military service to a civilian volunteer force that serves the community. There is a huge disconnect between the two.

One reason that this country remains as free as we are now is the gun ownershop protected by the Second Amendment. That is the reason that the democrats/leftists want to destroy the Second Amendment; after that the Constitution. Could that be the rationale for O'bama's Civilian Security Force?

I now believe the intent of Obama's statement was that he believes the funds going to defense should be redirected to community organization projects.

Obama is the one that connected it. He didn't say the Salvation Army was insufficient to meet our security needs, or the Peace Corps, or United Way, or any other charity or community service organization. He said the military was insufficient to meet all our security needs. He's talking about armed forces.

Take a look at the his first choice of words when describing his "service corps," http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=80539

It's implied. Even on liberal discussion boards, folks make this inference. Google obama civilian security loyal.

Sorry...I don't see it. I've read the speech he made multiple times and never once have I seen it implied in the speech that anything would report directly to him.

Let me get this straight though...your source for this is "liberal discussion boards"? I'll have to remember that one!

O'bama will probably start with something like the Depression era WPA or perhaps better the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corps, and move on from there.

Those O'bamamites on this Forum who laugh at the idea simply do not understand that O'bama is a Marxist. All one has to do to understand what will happen is to look at the Red Guard in China. The adulation shown by the O'bamamites when in his presence is certainly reminiscent of the enthusiasm if the pre WWII crowds in Europe. We should not forget that 75,000 torned out in Oregon to hear his soothing message of Hope and Change.

Furthermore a look at some of the stuff on the internet is frightening.

The loyalty of this security force is the real question, isn't it?

No, not at all. The question is whether or not he is even looking for a force 'loyal only to himself.'

Are we in for 8 years of ignoring the multitude of real problems with the Obama administration while focusing on these rumours and innuendos?

Maybe these kind of stories are coming from the true Obama supporters to detract from the real issues?

If you post a topic with a false statement to begin with, who is going to pay attention to the topic? If you wanted to talk about the "civilian national security force", you should have done just that. Instead, you had to say that it "answers only to himself". That's a falsehood and is nowhere in anything that Obama has said.

It's not a false statement. It's clearly in the subtext. There are none so blind as those who will not see.

If it is so clear, then show me. Show me where it says anything about "answers only to himself". Please...show me.

Perhaps O'bama will use them to quell the violence once he bankrupts the country.

What exactly is a "civilian national security force"?

How can it be "just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as our military?

Isn't the President the Commander-In-Chief of our armed forces? Hasn't it been reinforced generation after generation that they take their orders from him? Isn't the President ultimately in charge as the Chief Executive or all law enforcement, intelligence, and security agencies of our federal government? Hasn't the President used this power in times past to dispatch these resources as he deemed appropriate? Is is not logical then to conclude that a "civilian national security force" that is "just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" would be controlled in like manner? Is is not logical also to conclude that such a "force" that is "powerful", "strong", and "well-funded" is not merely some kind of part time neighborhood volunteer agency?

Another attempted right wing smear on the President.

    Fact Check
    http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/is_obama_planning_a_gestapo-like_civilian_national.html

    Q:
Is Obama planning a Gestapo-like "civilian national security force"?
I read a quote from Rep. Paul Broun from Georgia which stated that Obama wants to set up a civilian national security force that was similar to the "Gestapo" or the Nazi Brownshirts.

What is the truth behind Obama's statements that he wants to create a "civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded [as the military]"?
    A:
This false claim is a badly distorted version of Obama's call for doubling the Peace Corps, creating volunteer networks and increasing the size of the Foreign Service.
This question stems from an interview that Republican Rep. Broun of Georgia gave to The Associated Press Nov. 10. The story carried a headline, "Georgia congressman warns of Obama dictatorship." It said that Broun "fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship." And it quoted him this way:
Rep. Paul Broun, Nov. 10: It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's [Obama's] the one who proposed this national security force. ... That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did.
Similar claims have been circulating in right-leaning blogs and conservative Web sites ever since July, when Obama made a single reference to a "civilian national security force" in a campaign speech in Colorado. Obama's detractors make much of his expansive (and exaggerated) description of such a force as being "just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as the U.S. military. They also ignore the context.

Obama was not talking about a "security force" with guns or police powers. He was talking specifically about expanding AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps and the USA Freedom Corps, which is the volunteer initiative launched by the Bush administration after the attacks of 9/11, and about increasing the number of trained Foreign Service officers who populate U.S. embassies overseas.

Here is the relevant portion of what Obama actually said, with the sentences quoted selectively by Broun and others in bold.
Obama, July 2, Colorado Springs, CO: [As] president I will expand AmeriCorps to 250,000 slots [from 75,000] and make that increased service a vehicle to meet national goals, like providing health care and education, saving our planet and restoring our standing in the world, so that citizens see their effort connected to a common purpose.

People of all ages, stations and skills will be asked to serve. Because when it comes to the challenges we face, the American people are not the problem – they are the answer. So we are going to send more college graduates to teach and mentor our young people. We'll call on Americans to join an energy corps, to conduct renewable energy and environmental clean-up projects in their neighborhoods all across the country.

We will enlist our veterans to find jobs and support for other vets, and to be there for our military families. And we're going to grow our Foreign Service, open consulates that have been shuttered and double the size of the Peace Corps by 2011 to renew our diplomacy. We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set.

We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded. We need to use technology to connect people to service. We'll expand USA Freedom Corps to create online networks where American can browse opportunities to volunteer. You'll be able to search by category, time commitment and skill sets. You'll be able to rate service opportunities, build service networks, and create your own service pages to track your hours and activities.

This will empower more Americans to craft their own service agenda and make their own change from the bottom up.
Does that sound like a force that could kick down your door in the middle of the night and haul you off to a Gulag or concentration camp? You decide.
