Do sitting Presidents usually attend the funerals of former First Ladies?

 

Why should a Moslem attend such funerals?

Is it standard for Presidents to attend these funerals? There's enough on a President's plate that there's probably no way a President could ever have a schedule if he were attending all of these funerals. That's why others are sent as representatives.

And maybe he doesn't like funerals? Not to mention the craziness that would ensue with the President attending. It would change a family service into a circus and I don't think either he nor Nancy Reagan's family want that.

George W Bush didn't attend the funeral of Lady Bird Johnson in 2007. Laura Bush did, even though the President had no scheduled events that day.

Was he also an embarrassment to the nation?

 

Oh, well, I was born too soon and we did not call them Muslims in those days. Obama is a total partisan and he does not know how to be gracious to his political opposition. Don't worry about him--no one cares what he does. Low expectations for all Democrats these days. I hope that I never see Obama. The only President that I ever saw was Truman--he made a pompous speech in my hometown on his whistle-stop campaign of 1948. I was in Washington DC for a couple of days fifty years ago and I hope to never go there again.

Is he doing anything, by not attending, for which there was not previous precedent?

 

Shame! This 'Occupy Democrats' outfit skips over Presidents Kennedy and Clinton honoring the widows of beloved Presidents FDR and JFK, respectively.

Invalid option. Just because a person attends a funeral, any funeral, does not mean they care and it does not mean they do not care.

 

I should have been more specific. I meant that the person answering the poll does not care if Obama attends or not.

 

That is a distinctly possibility, even with some who criticize Obama for not going. In the final analysis they do not care, just want to criticize.
