Obama's Middle East Visit

I actually thought it was kind of hilarious that he got shoes thrown at him. It almost looked like while he was dodging the shoes, he had a grin on his face. I quote Austin Powers, "Who throws a shoe? Honestly?"

 

You have to take the culture in context...in the Muslim world, the soles of the shoe are an extreme insult.

 

To me its nothing more than "Sticks & Stones". Just because an Islamic reporter throws his shoes at you doesn't mean that the rest of the Islamic people are going to agree with him.

 

So true. In times past if you sat with your legs crossed and pointed the sole of your foot at someone, well you might just get your throat cut for that insult.

 

Sounds like a tolerant culture.

 

Just another example that Islam is a religion of love and tolerance.

 

The reason he got the applause is probably threefold:

1. He had previously made obeisance to the King of Saudi Arabia, the keeper of the holy sites of Islam, Medina and Mecca.

2. He is a black man.

3. He is probably perceived as Muslim since his father was Muslim.


Insofar as President Bush getting shoes thrown at him the Secret Service really fell down on the job. They are supposed to take a bullet for him if necessary. They would not even take a shoe.

 

You don't "make peace" with dangerous bullies. You don't "reach out" to thugs. The sucessful way to handle these killers is to forcibly let them know you absolutely will not tolerate their bad behavior.

Obama is a simpering pantywaist and the Muslims know it, just as a coddled, naughty child knows when his temper tantrums and demands work on a spineless parent. God HELP us all!
