If he is not pompous enough already, his staff are helping to make him look more pompous than before he won the election.

To even hint at, or suggest that Bush and Cheney should leave office now and allow Obama to take over under the direction of Ms. Nancy Pelosi is the most narcissistic suggestion I've ever heard.

First of all, Obama has very little executive experience, and to have him come in and work with Pelosi is ludicrous to say the least. Pelosi is not organized enough to effectively run her own business affairs, so allowing her to be the president pro-tem is stupid, senseless, and totally irresponsible.

Obama and his transition team should take what time is left in the transition period to "Watch and learn". In the immortal words of the great Karate master Mr. Miyagi, "Watch and learn Grasshopper, wax on, was off; wax on, was off!"

This most recent suggestion is the kind of talk that makes me cringe when I look forward to what may happen after Barrack is officially sworn in on January 20, 2009. Right now, Barrack is the backup quarterback, drooling for his chance to get and run a play for the team. I suggest he spend more time on the bench, and when he gets that itch to go in and play before his time, he can defer to pulling out the splinters out of his butt....Removing splinters and slivers should keep him busy until January 20, 2009. "Hey Barrack, don't worry about America, we have already have a capable President in place!!!

    Shalom,

It would be nice when items of this nature are posted for some kind of supporting documentation to accompany them - for those of us that are clueless on the issue at hand.

    Thanks for the link!

It looks to me like the idea is from a crazy woman who wrote an op-ed piece for the NY Times and it didn't originate from the Obama Camp. So, until we know otherwise, let's not jump to conclusions, okay?

All one has to do is follow and understand the Constitution, which seems to be in short supply here. If Bush quit today, or anytime before January 20th, Cheney becomes President. I do not think that would make anyone happy.

Lots of these threads need to be researched before starting. There is no provision in the Constitution or law for a President elect to take office early.

This title of this thread is a lie! This is an article by Gail Collins, not someone who works for Obama or someone who was speaking for Obama. To suggest otherwise is to bear false witness.

I would expect better from you Righteousdude2.

Well, who is Gail Collins and who is she speaking for? (Her own opinion, no doubt.)

I do agree that the title is a bit misleading.... catchy.... makes one look, but the article is definitely not anti-Obama.

My opinion of the article....... it sounds to me like an opinion piece and definitely over the top of reason and sanity. The article holds no importance to me except as a strangely humorus if not outrageous piece which is getting more attention than it deserves.

As to the opinion expressed by the poster who opened this thread... he has his right to express his opinion which I found a bit amusing response.

Well this should ruin my record.... I agree with LE.

Not to mention this nut is way off base with this paragraph and many others. Bush is very much the leader of the free world and will be until 1/20/2009 and the 700 Billion contributions he made to the economic crises has turned his own party against him. I don't care for Bush but I have to give him credit for doing something and not just a lecture...

Um, it said for Bush AND Cheney to resign, which would, indeed, leave Nancy Pelosi in the drivers seat, as it were.

However, since this did not apparently originate from the Obama camp, the whole argument is moot.

The other caveat is Obama isn't technically President elect until the electoral college votes so there was really no way to take this very serious...

Please keep your politicians in Texas. LBJ and GWB is enough damage to the USA for one lifetime.

The title is misleading to say the least. Why make up a title when the op/ed piece had one:

True, but even Obama has bought the delusion as he now occupies the "Office of the President-Elect" according to his numerous press conferences and signage that accompany them.

That silly Constitution just doesn't mention anything in Art I about this office, but no matter, Obama knows best.

I wonder why righteousdude2 doesn't man up and admit he stretched the truth to the breaking point with his OP title?

Of course, I would not want to accuse anyone here of hating Obama, but I will let the facts speak for themselves.
