    I can tell you that funeral homes love to have the funerals at their place because it's easier on them logistically. Everything they need is at their fingertips.

    But it's strictly the family's call, and there's no effort to talk the family into anything they don't want to do.

    Another trend is to have the visitation and service on the same day. Cheaper.

    Another trend is cremation. Cheaper.

    Another is services only at the graveside. Cheaper

    I'm also seeing what seems to be more instances where there is no service of any kind. The majority are quite elderly and have outlived most of their friends and relatives.

    Sorry to derail the thread about obituaries. I've seen some obits which list surviving pets and "dear friends."
