    All

I don't know where to put this, but there are some really racey adds today on BB. I snagged the banner image and it shows a scantilly clad women with the following text:

    Browse her picks.
A hot new girl joins every minute.
    singlenet.com

    What up with this?

My concern under the thread title, "Here It Is Again".

The first thread I started over this a couple of weeks ago appears to have disappeared.

Accordingly, I have the same question as your do.

My advice is to download an ad blocker for your browser. I use Safari and have the ad blocker for it so see NO ads at all. :)

That's sound advice but does not address why the moderators/owner(s) of this forum allow it to begin with.

How about the owners of BB advertise that they are taking donations from members in order to NOT have to advertise on the site?

Get ad blocker. I see no ads. It's probably has something to do with a subject matter. I'm not exactly sure how the ads are picked here, but I'm assuming its on the content of the site. Of course I don't see them anyway. :)

    Get ad blocker.

Okay, I'll get seven layers of Ad Blocker.

What about the impression of a visitor to the BB without Ad Blocker?

The handlers of this site are making money off of semi-pron advertisements?

To get people to donate is very difficult and most will not do so. It costs at least a few hundred dollars a year to keep a bulletin board going and so ads are sadly part of most of them. Unless it becomes a paid site, ads will be a reality so just download an ad blocker. It takes all of about 3 minutes - it's really not a big deal.

I got the same thing; but I think I know where it came from. My wife buys many things on the internet, including ladies underwear. So guess what comes up, ladies in underwear as well as other items she was interested in. I suspect you are getting the ads here on BB that reflect what someone on your computer has shown an interest in.

I showed some of the ads to my wife; and she said, yes she was interested in that type of thing on the computer the day before.

It's not always your search and browser history. I don't search campaign stuff and I haven't visited any politicians websites in several months.

I find it pretty hard to believe that google will encroach on a personal website with their ads..., without permission.

Actually unless you pay for specific things with your webhost you have very little control over the ads that show up.

The ads are generated per user. The ads that you see are not the same ads that I would see. When I had ads, I had ads for horse equipment and ProPresenter, the software we use for projection at church. So BB allows ads, Google knows by your cookies what you've looked at and so it generates ads based on your interests. It probably knows you're a guy maybe because you looked at fishing gear or something and now is posting about women. Icky, I know but that is the way of the internet!

Is it because I did a Google search yesterday for "Rush Limbaugh calls woman a sl*t" to find the transcript of what was actually said? Only I spelled the word out. That's the only thing I can think of. But I thought I had been seeing that ad for two days.

but I did go online to see Limbaughs commentary? hmmmmm
