You know it is interesting that the left cannot characterize opposing views other than hateful. It really is the cheap road in any discussion. It is not even resonable to assign hate to Americans who have a realistic view of illegal immigration. This demonization is imature and easy. Maybe the discussion can be raised beyond reactionary, and immature to respect and agree to disagree. All this anger is not necessary. And please I do not want anymore pm's. Even they have become rediculous.

Opposing views are one thing. Taking a lighthearted comment and replying bitterly with multiple references to the poor black community, when it has nothing to do with the topic, is quite another. There has to be some reson why the reference was made?

As to anyone's views on immigration policy, I have not said anything. Strike that I did say I did not agree with PS view of immigrants hating America and wanting to force their culture on everyone else, or whatever it was. I hardly think that could be considered reactionary and immature. People are free to believe what they want, and I am free to agree or disagree with them. Frankly, I don't care what people believe, but I will still post my opinion if I feel so inclined. This is a debate board if you don't like differing opinions, I would suggest you post somewhere else.

It wasn't me who PM'd you!

Characterizing aliens, illegal or otherwise, as criminal deserves a rebuke.

    Illegal, therefore, morally wrong.

Unless, of course, you can come up with one single Roman law Jesus Christ didn't think he needed to obey.

Breaking the law is morally wrong.

Maybe it's just me, but I think you and UT are talking about two different things.

If a person does not have a firm grasp of the English language it does not neccessarily mean they are here illegally.

Then which languages do we translate all our forms into?

Whichever ones the state deems neccessary. In Flroida, for instance, Spanish and Creole forms are very useful. It should be done on a state by state basis.

Coming across the border of a soveriegn country illegally makes one an illegal alien. That is the correct legal term and it should not be diminished.

This is a moot question. U.S. Govt. documents are translated into a variety of languages already.

On criminality, here is an excerpt from the post I was referring to:

"In my community there are thousands of Hispanics who REFUSE to speak our language. This is MY country not theirs. I strongly resent the Catholic Hispanics coming here to STEAL, KILL and DESTROY. Everywhere I look I see it. Robberies, murders, grafiti, drugs and destruction. ALL of it is perpetrated by the hispanic people who come here.
    ...
THIS ISSUE IS ABOUT IMMIGRATION AND WILL NOT BE RESOLVED UNTIL WE KICK THE THIEVES OUT OF OUR COUNTRY."

We will be much better off if American English is the one language for all our official government business - including government schools - and if we continue to require that all citizens be able to have a basic ability to communicate in this language.

There's nothing wrong with having communities where other languages are used in private affairs however people may desire to do so.
