    But when I was a kid, we were so poor that on Thanksgiving we hung a picture of a turkey up by the dining room light and ate the shadow.

    We were so poor...one day the preacher came over and found a lit cigarette lying on the floor in the kitchen. He stepped on it and put it out. Momma screamed out, "Who turned the heat off?!?!"

    Not only poor, but hated. I could tell that my parents hated me. My bath toys were a toaster and a radio. :rolleyes:

    I know we was poor growing up. I overheard some ladies talking about my parents. "Are those Gib's parents? Those poor people."
