I simply don't know what to title this thread, so that is the best I could do. Here is a sad story about people's views on burying the dead. Everytime they Medical Examiners office indentifies another remain from the dead body, they did up the old remains, rebarry, and have a whole new funeral service . . .four times to date!

Were this me, I probably would have had the first funeral (when the first remains were identified), and then would have waited until the full identification process was complete (which could take another year) to inter any additionaly remains.

I would have had the first funeral and then instructed the medical examiner to send any further body parts to be cremated (or for those offended by cremation, I would do as Johnv suggested). Why oh Why put families through this grief over and over?

What is a funeral? Is it not the memorial service for the departed soul? Isn't the body somewhat insignificant?

One service should suffice, whether body is present in whole or part, or not at all.

I had one such service years ago where the person drowned and the body was never recovered. I conducted the service for the family as if the body was present and accounted for. The service is for the living, in my opinion.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Agree with all thus far. One service. If that.

I'm not a big fan of funerals per se.
