I think it is terrific that Evangelist6589 is getting out there, but you have to know what you are doing.

Here in Connecticut we have a preacher who has a weekly show called Give Me An Answer. This preacher goes to colleges and he gets good results. He doesn't simply preach at people, he asks them questions and gets them engaged. At times he draws very big crowds, and you can see many young people listen to him seriously.

I would study this fellow, he is very effective.

    Here are several videos;

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2chj8d0eBg

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=hfGUDyLUhlM&NR=1

Watch the second video and how he engages with young people.

Keep up the good work and shine your shoes!

    Key words highlighted.

This is a Biblical and effective mode of evangelism. Jesus used it often.

I am not critical that he is doing something. But I am not sure the point.

Many of us are active in "out there trying to do something", but we don't choose to post it here.

    I'm going to disagree.

I preached the last two weeks on the first six verses of Acts 17.

Paul passed up Amphipolis and Apollonia to come to Thessalonica where there was a synagogue.

He went where he thought he would be most effective. One should consider effectiveness before embarking on a particular ministry.

Winning just one soul is NOT worth it all if you could have won 50 souls doing it another way.

    Do you see?

And by the way, one of my favorite human beings who has ever walked the earth is George Whitefield. But he was EFFECTIVE in open air ministry.

To draw comparisons to George Whitfield is just silly.

Strange that it seems you need people to on the one hand ignore you while you yell at them and on the other hand need affirmation from people for yelling at other people. Here's hoping you find what you need!

    The obvious point is evangelism.

I am not sure the point of your criticism.

Do you think he knew beforehand that he was going to be effective?

I think it is somewhat telling that the OPer has not responded to his thread. Was he looking for youtube hits??? Was he looking for free advertising? Was he wanting people to see that he is evangelizing and we are too busy reading about his evangelism?

I don't see the point of this thread.

Good point. At first I thought at least he is trying
I don't wish to criticize but he did ask what we thought. I firmly believe that if a man is meant to preach, God will be in it if he is effective. Being spit on isn't exactly a very nice thing but it's worth it if just one is reached with the gospel.

He had reason to believe that he would be effective.

Preaching to people who are not listening, who are just walking by should not lead one to think his method is effective.

If a preacher preaches in the streets and no one stands around to hear it- does he make a sound?

    No.

    I don't agree.

If this guy or anyone else for that matter feels that God has told him to do something, he is wise to obey, regardless of what it looks like, or the consequences, which are up to God anyway.

Let me ask you: If God told you to go out there and do what he is doing, and you got the results that he gets on the video, would you still do it?

"Feels that God has told him..."? What does that mean??

See that's the mess we are plagued with in this culture.

    All this "feeling God" stuff.

God speaks in his word. We make ministry decisions based on his word and good old fashioned wisdom.

This "feeling God speaking to me" mess is seepage from Pentecostalism into baptist life and it has no biblical basis.

He should do what God says in his Word in a way that providence makes possible.

He ought to toss all this other "god spoke to my spirit or whatever" nonsense.

God still speaks to us through the Spirit, lets not throw the baby out with the bath water. Perhaps you meant to say something along the lines of confirmed by the word? Just a thought

The bath water is baby-less, and it is rancid.

There is no bible for this "God speaks to me in my heart" stuff.

That is not how Christians are supposed to make decisions.

The Holy Spirit works in our hearts bringing to our remembrance the things Christ has said.

BUT this "feeling" stuff - listen to it now- IT IS NOT IN THE BIBLE.

Okay, so instead of you addressing the issue, you choose to nitpick a word choice and go on a nonsensical rant about it.

Do you not think God has ever lead you to do something? I hope you don't respond to God like you did me. If so, maybe He'll knock you on your rear like He did Paul. It might take that to knock the smartaleck know-it-all arrogance out of you.

We disagree, the Spirit still speaks today. I'm not for this stuff you see on TV where some guy feels some kidney stones are being healed in someone, somewhere so send in your money.

Now if you want to quibble with the word "speak" and call it something else, okay what would you call it when someone is FEELS called to the ministry or FEELS called to speak to their friend about coming to church? Experience is very much a part of our walk with the Lord, not the only part, but certainly a part. To remove that aspect, feelings, is to dehumanize being a believer. You have to be less human then you are to be a Christian.

Also, what if you don't have a Bible, what then?

God brings the converts. All He wants me to do is obey Mark 16:15 and preach the word. The results I leave to the Holy Spirit. Too many go astray by using pragmatism as a means to a end. No you obey the great commission and let him bring out the converts.
