    Oprah on Jesus
    Watch Oprah Winfrey as she interviews and showcases several New Age luminaries. But when a Christian woman in the audience ask's Oprah, "What about Jesus?," Oprah insists Jesus "can't possibly be the only way" to God.... And the sparks fly!

    I have found many in the church who could not answer the basic question she asks about those who have never heard and going to heaven.

    When I first started pastoring I asked some of the hard questions to other older pastors and got few answers. What I found out was most that I asked just preached the same things they had always heard. In fact some advised against me preaching some of the hard things because it might stir up trouble. There were times when I did have to say I didn't know. I think people appreciate a pastor who studies and attempts to answer the hard questions.

    And still people "Ga-Ga!! Goo-Goo!" all over her!! Its been at least 15 years since I've seen her show---but I remember one episode as if it were "Yesterday's Sunrise!"---there were these New Age Guru's on even back then going on and on and on about humans being their own gods-----and it was time for audience "Q & A"----one guys gets up---bless his heart---he asked to the topic under discussion----"But the Bible says . . .(Oprah cuts him off) and then she responds something like----Don't tell me what the Bible says----I know the Bible etc. etc.!!"

    Spiritually---she's about as dead as they come!! She's about as dangerous as a Chimpanzee holding a live Granade in one hand and a loaded .45 in the other!!!

    I saw an episode years ago about personal angels, and how you could get your angel to do what you wanted them to for you. I rarely ever watch Oprah and only watch when I want to see someone or some topic on the show, like weighloss, or something like that.

    Oprah has lost more weight than anyone I know.

    She hates Jesus.

    "I can't get into a religious argument with you", she says.

    Hmmm, just WHAT is New Age then? What a contradiction! And since she is the "Grand Pooh-bah" of that show, her word is law. Obviously biased and ignorant, yet she is hailed as some great person? Gimme a break.

    While I applaud these ladies who attempted to stand up to her, I abhor their pitifully inept replies to her. Yes Oprah asked "hard" questions, yet they needn't be all that hard. Every christian ought to be able to answer that question "what about the person who never heard...".

    This illustrates quite well that American christians (by and large) have no solid ground on which they stand, nor can they defend it.

    Sad. [IMG]

    The question about 'what about those who hadn't heard...' one of the women without a mic made a remark about Jesus not returning until the Gospel had been preached to all four corners of the earth. Oprah said, 'Yeah. Well.'

    I contend these audience members did REALLY well for someone not expecting to speak in front of t.v. cameras and defend themselves against the likes of satan himself. In general, you don't know what the show is about until standing in line. When we lived in Connecticut, a friend and I got tickets for Sally. They were filming a number of shows at once. We stayed for one but I refused to stay for the other because it was not appropriate for a Christian. (Homosexuality)

    I disagree Diane. Here is why...

    1Pe 3:15
    But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

    This first thing I would have done is ask Oprah if she truly wanted an answer or if she was simply fogging the issue. That puts her on the spot doesn't it? And if she replies in the affirmative, then I would give her a Biblical answer. Romans ch's 1-3

    The following verses apply in this situation.

    Pr 26:4
    ¶ Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
    Pr 26:5
    Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

    These two verses give clear direction to the christian for answering the godless. On the one hand, answer them to show they are conceited and foolish. On the other, do not answer else you will look just as foolish. Discernment is the key. And directly asking Oprah if she is truly desiring an answer would reveal to the world what her motives are.

    In HIS service;
    Jim

    Could somebody answer this question here, for my benefit and possibly for the benefit of others? Thanks.

    Jim, did you watch the clip? The women attempting to answer the New Ager's and Oprah were not even given mic's in some instances. Certainly Oprah wasn't going to allow them the floor. She made the remark... I'm not going to get into a religious debate with you....

    I thought they did very well for audience members.

    it is interesting that oprah was focusing on the human heart and the goodness of people and she was not told or doesnt believe that we are a fallen race from adam and that the human heart is not good at all in Gods eyes. it is typical human reasoning to wonder how we have offended God.
    it is sad that she believes as she does. one of the ladys that said Jesus is the only way was right.

    Yes Diane. I did watch the clip. I would still have responded as described in my recent post.
    Did you read my first post? I quoted Oprah. :D
    How did I do that without viewing the clip?

    Brian30755;
    Do you have your Bible handy? Look up Romans ch. 1-3

    It will answer your question. But I will "condense" it for you.

    The Bible says that God put the knowledge of Him into the heart of every man, woman and child by the revelation of Creation. Mankind did not like to retain this knowledge of God in his heart so God gave them over to their own ways and desires. But they are without excuse because they have the knowledge of God within them. So all are under condemnation because they reject the first knowledge of God which is Creation itself. And because they do not worship God who is the Creator as God, they have brought condemnation upon themselves.

    In HIS service;
    Jim

    it is obvious by the bible that all those who do not have Christ are without hope and are lost. so then man is in a hopeless state unless by grace the Lord has drawn them.

    So, are you saying that every person who has ever lived deep in the jungle and never heard of Jesus, never heard the gospel, will burn in hell for all of eternity?
