Some pretty horrible responses, as well.

Looked at the poll, couldn't take it because not all the appropiate answers are included. MY stance: should a woman be ordained as a pastor? No, and in the Bible it says that women are not to have authority over men.

Terry, not all of us are Baptists. I and my wife (who is a pastor) are in the "other Christians" category.

I would have to strongly disagree that my wife is out of fellowship with Christ (but then again, what do I know?) I do know that she is an associate pastor who ministers primarily to the children and women of the congregation. Very occasionally, she preaches. The church finds her very valuable for she has fantastic gifts that the senior minister does not have. I'm coming to believe that both genders are necessary for as wide a ministry as a large church requires.

Speaking as a man, I don't take well to a woman minister, e.g., in a counseling session. But I would imagine that a woman might not appreciate a male minister all the time either.

    Just my $.02,

These include the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, The Alliance of Baptists, and the American Baptist Churches - USA.

It does not matter if your wife is the smartest and best preacher in the world. The Scripture forbids it.

Hey, Granny Gumbo! I love your location!!!

Man and woman's roles have not changed since creation and won't in this world, maybe in the new heaven and new earth or maybe in the Millennium at least for the saints.

The passages are so stinking clear it is pitiful and if you cannot understand the clear stuff how will you get anything that is a bit more sticky?

Jesus said, that if he told us earthly things and we did not understand how would we understand heavenly things. Y'all are rationalizing and giving your opinion and your ways, but it is His opinion and ways that count.

Go to sermoncentral.com and look under Maverick Ministries. I have a whole series on men and women which I am planning on publishing as "The Power of Holy Women." That power is not in ordination of man but in being obedient to the role ordained by God.

By the way, Josh, I am glad I saw that you are ABC in one of the messages. It helps me understand your responses better.

Fortunately I am not a disciple of Scripture, but a disciple of Christ.

And how, might I ask, would you explain, the many people at the church where my wife pastors who say they have been blessed by her ministry there? God works through her, an ordained woman. Just imagine.

Maverick, our church is active in the Alliance of Baptists (AB) and the Cooperative Bapitst Fellowship. I have several friends who are ABC, but I personally am not. They've never been very big here in the South. I imagine if I moved to a region where they were more prominent I would get my ministerial credentials recognized by them and serve an ABC church.

God can work through a donkey, as in the case of Balaam, that does not mean that the donkey should be ordained.

If Hitler had proclaimed the plan of salvation to someone, they could believe the message and be saved. That does not mean that Hitler was right with God.

Terry, are you intentionally trying to be insulting or is it only accidental that you are comparing a woman who answers God's call to a donkey and to Hitler?

I'm amazed that you feel so confident about knowing the mind of Holy God.

Hmm, your a disciple of Christ Who is the Word and sent His disciples into world to spread the Word and inspired them to write the Scriptures, indeed the Words of God, but you are not a disciple of the Scriptures. That is a rather strange position to be in. That is someone like saying that you love grits bit never eat them.

I'm not trying to insult anyone, Joshua. If I had wanted to I would have said "Jack Ass" and not "Donkey." I did not refer to anybody as either of these animals. The point is, just because someone proclaims the truth doesn't make them right in reference to the position they have in life.

It seems to me that you would rather pick apart every litte syllable of what I say and not compare it with Scripture, oh, I forgot, you don't believe the Scripture. That explains it.

I'd rather see the donkey post here than to see this garbage. A donkey capable of posting would know how to exercise common courtesy.

I really, really, really want to say some things about the CBF at this point, but it may get me bounced from the board so I will refrain, but OH the temptation is strong!!! I guess this where the concept of if you can't say anything nice say nothing at all comes in.
