I believe OSAS (once saved, always saved)
means whatever "shall not perish, but have
euerlasting life" means in this verse:

    John 3:16 (KJV1611 Edition):
For God so loued ye world, that he
gaue his only begotten Sonne: that whosoeuer
beleeueth in him, should not perish, but haue
    euerlasting life.

He gives us "everlasting" life. If you can lose it its not everlasting.

John 3:16 ( the way some must see it)
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son: that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have *everlasting life.

    CLAUSE:
*But don't make God mad or else He takes it back!

This is not the way it reads in my Bible; there is no such clause.

If He promises everlasting life, then He gives EVERLASTING life.

God cannot love me MORE for the things I do (legalism/works to gain/keep salvation).

God cannot love me LESS for the things I do (lose salvation).

Why? Salvation is 100% of God and 0% of Bob. Jonah 2:9

God demonstrates the issue of forgiveness revoked in Matt 18. But this does not mean He "loves less". "God so Loved that He gave" so simply "being lost" does not mean "God does not love you".

    In Christ,

    Bob

So far, are the results a true reflection of the users of this board? I thought I would see more of a split. I was hoping more would vote as well. I guess it depends on how many pay any attention to this part of the board. could an invite be posted in all areas?

    God Bless!

1 John 5:11-13, "And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life."

Here is the current results (as of the time stamp on this post):

    Poll Results: OSAS (31 votes.)
Do you believe it is true?
    Choose 1

    yes 94% (29)
    no 3% (1)
    not sure3% (1)

    Rather one-sided, eh?

    Another good question might be:

    Do you believe OSAS means:

    1. Once Saved (by self), Always Saved (by self)

    2. Once Saved (by Jesus), Always Saved (by Jesus).
