Well, Obama is re-elected. While compromise on immigration reform may not be -ideal- this is the real world, and it is politics. So, maybe the Republicans will work out reform WITH Obama.

Afterall, Republicans are not the best defenders of the border, either. The US Chamber of Commerce, a Republican leaning group if there ever was one, has opposed some sensible measures to check the status of applicants for jobs. Also, the party of business in going to be the party that helps business seek what it needs as much as Dracula needed blood:

    cheap labor.

Well. We all know who the groups are on issues such as gun control. Can you name the various sides on this issue of immigration? For instance:

    FAIR
    ALIPAC
The Texas Border Sherrifs' Coalition (Operators of Bluesevo. The webcams on the border we all can watch.)

    across the fence:

    La Rasa
billionaire David Gelbaum. Mr. Gelbaum has contributed over 100 MILLION dollars to the Sierra Club. He was exposed. He told the SIerra Club that if they ever addressed the topic of immigration's impact on the environmet, he would stop contributing. He in effect over-road the memebrs' cares or ability to debate. Maybe he meant no harm. He said his forebears were Jewish refugees, and he couldn't bear the thought of the USA turning folks away. Hmmm. Or, is he after a borderless world, and cheap labor, akin to the European Union?

What do you all think of this issue?
Personally, I fear the likes of these folks will get in:

The US must be the worst country in the world when it comes to border control and it is intentional.

Hate to admit it, but crime generates lots of job security for millions of working class people and big bucks for upper eschelon people. A parallel case is the medical industry. No MD wants people to get cancer, yet they make a good living from cancer and fight against alternative medicine cures. They want their union (AMA) members to get their cut.
