Pampered Chef pulls plug on abortion support

In a press release, Berkshire-Hathaway, which owns the Pampered Chef company, has announced that it will stop its shareholder-designated contributions program which benefited the abortion industry--effectively cutting off Planned Parenthood.

This decision comes after hundreds of Pampered Chef consultants began leaving the company because contributions were being delivered to organizations that promoted and endorsed the killing of unborn children.

In an email letter to consultants, Pampered Chef president Doris Christopher said, "Let me be clear, there will be no possibility of any Pampered Chef profits being donated to any cause other than those we initiate, including our three current charitable giving programs: Round-Up from the Heart, Help Whip Cancer and the Family Resiliency Program."

Creating a flurry of activity, the American Family Association's online campaigns, AFA Action Alert! and OneMillionMoms.com, distributed information about the contributions to Pampered Chef consultants and potential customers. As a result, customers began canceling scheduled "in-home" demonstrations of the company's products.

This is a great victory in saving the lives of unborn children. The Pampered Chef empire was built by consultants who believe in the sanctity of life. Their voice has been heard.

It's nice. Nicer would be if they changed their stand because of a change of heart instead of cash flow. But...it's a start and a good move and I applaud them for doing the right thing!
