Since when do cheerleaders walk around naked or with "nothing but paint on"?

If she walks in and doesnt have any clothes you deem appropriate, take her shopping. We have done that and it can be a really fun and rewarding experience.

You ever see a NFL football game? They're closer to nakedness than being clothed and their shorts and tops might as well be painted on.

Is it a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader?
    Go Dallas...

Ooops all my smiley has on is shoes!!!!

Seriously, this thread is really ridiculous, and you all do owe Pastor an apology... nowhere does he say he supports nakedness.
He just says we don't need a list... If we are saved, God lives in us. We get our instructions from the Holy Spirit.

If you are going to go strictly by the Bible on clothing standards, make sure each shirt you put on this week is not a blended material...
That is in the bible, spray paint isn't.

Modesty is in the heart, and when the heart is right, so will the outside be.

    Bingo. Jesus' teachings.

Now repent for your pom-pom-wielding, reprobate, nekkidness-lovin', compromisin', devil-worshippin', dancin', non-separated smiley and you will be allowed to post again.

I wear spandex all the time. It's called "cycling". There's nothing sexual about it. We actually look like a bunch of dorks.

People are so concerend about what other people do, but negelect to take a good look at themselves. Does anyone really think insulting people, name calling, and making up what people have not said is any better chrsitan behavior?

    so is your drunken humor.

He has indicated that he has no standards, the Bible is silent on the matter and those that do have standards are engaged in legalism. If he doesn't support nakedness then certainly he can stand and refute the claim.

Book, chapter and verse for that claim?

I'll trade you. I'll cease from blended material when you start promoting modesty.

What will the outside look like when the heart is right?

There are a few men here who no matter what keep dwelling on modesty, and nudity, even to the point a few times naming body parts(mod deleted them). It seems these men have a sex problem,a nd are trying to blame everyone but themselves. Everyone else needs to get right but them. yet they are he ones who can not discuss anything with it being about sex.

99% of all men have a sex problem when they see a nice looking girl who is dressed in revealing attire. That's the way the world works. That's also exactly why many of those girls dress that way. Stripper outfits aren't exactly the most comfortable choice of apparel I don't imagine.

These guys here can't hlp talking about sex, and using names of body parts they probably wouldn't use in real life.
Plus, this topic is not about revealing clothing, it's about just what is and isn't modest. Some want to carry it to the extreme.
Oh, and by the way, had you read the other thread like this, not all men dwell on sex.

I have a double standard. And I admit it.

If a kid shows up at my church, and I know (or am fairly sure) he/she is lost or unchurched, I'm going to do my best to make that person feel welcome, so that they may hear the Gospel of Christ.

If they came naked? I'd offer them a free T-shirt from our stock (a really long one) and tell them I'm glad they came.

If one of "my kids" comes and needs more covering, I talk to them (if it's girls, I have a godly lady who is NOT a youth's mom, her kids are grown) who gently tells them we need to change.

And I have some pretty cool t-shirts here available for just that occasion.

I don't apologize for asking Christians to act as such. But we do it in a spirit of love, gentleness, and restoration...not condemnation.

I am comfortable with my process and policy. It has been prayed over, thought through, written down, and talked over. It has put to the test of the whole counsel of the Bible. It is coherent, consistent, Christ-honoring, and caring. (that's actually the basic structure of my manual). I daresay my policy on dress makes more sense than many others' here. It trains the saved and loves the lost.

So throw all the stones you want, you couple that have been doing so. My conscience is clear. God is honored here. We're pointing to Him. And if that's liberal to you, then I wear that as a badge of honor, because I believe what I'm doing meets the approval of my Lord. You should do the same.

Hmmm... imagine what we could accomplish as Christians if we quit playing God, and just followed his orders to love Him and love others.....

    I can only imagine....

No one is playing God. The thread is about assesing what God says about modesty and the garments his people wear. Why is it so difficult to reason together without resorting to such drama and emotionalism? Will anyone be getting back to the questions in this thread or should we just give it up to one long waaaah session?

I have found that most guys who focus on such things have a problem with such things.

Someone asked if we had seen an NFL cheerleader...no, I know that's not wear my attention should be. I am curious of those who have chosen to gawk before choosing to condemn.

I am also astounded at the accusations leveled at PastorSBC. He has not promoted immodesty, and I would be shocked if his church promoted immodesty. And unlike others, I do know his church...we're in the same association, just 20 miles down the highway.

No where in this thread has he promoted immodesty. He said that the list of do's and don'ts advocated by some here was their own and not Biblical, and he said that teaching salvation was more important than worrying about someone's clothes.

Some have forgotten that pride is just as worldly as immodesty. What is the point of twisting someone's words or exaggerating their stance? To win the argument? What's the point of that? Pride. A nice, fleshly surge of "attaboy!" that comes from telling ourselves that we are better than someone else. Too bad it comes to nothing, means nothing, and in the end, only takes our focus away from what God calls us to.

And I could be wrong, but isn't that pride, well, immodest?

Well, you have me there. That was a jab when in reality, I do not know if people in thsi discussion gawk or not. As I said later in my post, we do an awful lot for that surge of "attaboy." Its prideful and immodest. Its of the flesh. I am sorry.
