I encourage everyone interested to press their local PBS station to be sure to air this program. I have seen the video and it is fantastic.

Who are these 8 Phds and what did they get their Phds in?

IIRC Behe (the ID head proponent) accepts common descent.

Also most of the research on ID is contrived, it also makes one wonder why Behe (among others) hasn't submitted any papers to the scientific community in order to have it peer-reviewed.

Ah I see the 8. I find it odd that at least some of them don't have the appropriate Phd for evolutionary biology.

Behe- IIRC is a biochemist and was deceptive in his book "Darwin's Black Box".

Dr. Dean Kenyon has no formal education in evolution theory?

Here's some more credentials, plus an excellent resource that compares ID proponents ideas to their scientific counterpart:
    ID v. Evo

William A. Dembski has a Phd in math and philosophy, not evolutionary biology (or any biological science).

That's at least a little better.

In any event here's some information about ID (from the same site):

The funny thing is; how many of these are actually about intelligent design?

    Here's another article about ID:

Dr. Dean Kenyon wrote the text book, Biochemical Predestination, which was the formal textbook on bio-chemical evolution used in most universities throughout the country for many years. He had formal education that qualified him to teach and write about chemical biochemical evolution. San Fracisco State University believed him to be qualified to teach evolution. To say he was not qualified is not true.

It was from a sound backround of being an authority on biochemical evolution theory that Dr. Dean Kenyon has come to reject evolution and support the theory of Intelligent Design.

    Kathryn,

I've seen the video and it is outstanding. It is well-presented and not at all what Meatros is trying to intimate (never having seen it himself, however...).

Meatros, quit the ad homs on the people involved. You are so adamant about bashing anything which has anything to do with questioning evolution! Why? What is the problem with observing and asking questions? That is what ID is doing.

By the way, Phil Johnson is a good friend of ours and I can guarantee to you this man is a solid and commited Christian.

I didn't say he wasn't qualified, I said he received no formal education in it-and it seems as though I'm right. Also just because he has a text book or a state endorses him doesn't mean anything. [i/]What does the National Academy of Science think of him?

So what if he rejects it. He certianly hasn't proved his theory, nor disproved evolution!

Quit the ad-homs and then you ad-hom me?

Most of my posts in this thread are comprised of other cites/papers/etc.

    as far as this goes:
I didn't write the website, that's what it's title is.

I would also like to point out Helen that the following was said:

Which may lead people to think that all of these people are reputable scientists who are qualified in evolutionary biology (or even biology). I was pointing out that at least some of them are not.

The video says they are reputable scientists qualified in their fields and in the video show you what their fields are. You meet them. This is not a video about evolutionary biology, it is about Intelligent Design.

Explain to me how William A. Dembski's Phd in math and philosophy is helpful in biology.

Also ID isn't a 'field'. It's not reputable science. Can you provide a single technical paper published for peer-review on ID?

Meatros, you are displaying your ignorance about a subject you are endeavoring to denigrate: Dembski proposed a mathematical test for ID. A Ph.D. in math does qualify one for that sort of thing, I would think.

ITM, let me know of a peer-reviewed journal which you approve of which is willing to publish an article supportive of ID. A letter from the editor to you will be quite sufficient. Please quote the letter, the name of the journal, and the name of the editor. Thank you.

In other words there are no technical paper published for peer-review on ID?

Field is referring to their field of study as scientists qualified to talk about Intelligent Design. Yes, Dembski does discuss probability and how it relates to science. They all discuss individually how their field of study relates to the origin of life. Watch the video and you would see this. I am not here to try to convince you of Intelligent Design.
