PELOSI PUSHES RANGEL TO STEP DOWN FROM COMMITTEE CHAIR
    September 16, 2008

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi yesterday privately pushed Rep. Charlie Rangel to give up his chairmanship of the influential House tax-rules committee amid explosive revelations that his personal tax filings were riddled with errors and omissions, a wellplaced source said.

One member of the New York congressional delegation who supported Pelosi's decision said, "You have to have one standard - you can't have one for [Republicans] and one for us."

I guess people are too busy trying to convict Palin of some supposed crime, and the real criminals skate.

Consistence is so hard to achieve, when yer a partisan hack.

Why bother with a tax cheat when Palin's teen age daughter is pregnant?

San Fran Nan addressing corruption in her party? I don't think so. I think it has a lot more to do with the fact that we are a month and a half out of the general election more than anything and she wants to try and save face for her party. It will get pushed to the back burner until after election day and then Rangel will get a slap on the wrist and new office furniture for making it through the "fire".

(AP Photo/Lauren Victoria Burke)(CNSNews.com) – The embattled chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.), is involved in what may be the most important fight of his political career.

Rangel met privately Monday night with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and discussed the status of his chairmanship of the committee that oversees the nation's tax laws.

In a conference call with reporters on Tuesday, according to the New York Times, Rangel's lawyer, Lanny Davis, said that Pelosi supported Rangel staying in the chairmanship.

It was sarcasm. That was the rallying cry for the Dems with regards to the Republicans.
