    British army versus the Zulus, anyone?

    (yes, I'm aware that the British ultimately won; but the losses inflicted upon the Brits was mind-boggling)

    The losses for the Zulus are far worse...that and the whole colorization business. However...

    You can't compare a colonial invasion with oceanic crossings. The greatest strategic asset we have is the massive oceans on either side of our country. Name for me a major world opponent who could cross these waters without being seen or one that could cross the southern or northern border without being seen.

    Yep; thousands of Zulus to each thousand Brit/African troops. The scale of death on both sides...easy to sit back and say that we can overcome their sheer numbers.

    I believe I mentioned Korea, Japan, and the Polynesian Islands. Shall we just let them fend for themselves?
