I just don't see it. The politics of how a church closely tied school operate just like the politics on this board. And that's all that needs to be said. And like on this board, folks think they are doing a good thing and they are only helping evil to prosper with unGodlike behavior.

This whole thread could have been summarized by the statement:

"Jesus is cool, but I don't like his fan club."

 

Whatever man...it just seems you are looking for an argument.

You asked for other people to chime in and even said that you would stand corrected. Other people chimed in (4 people have agreed that it is using the Lord's name in vain) and instead of standing corrected you make childish remarks and accusations of people being conceited.

It really is simple...if you didn't want others to chime in...don't ask for them to do it! I, for one, wouldn't have ever posted about it had you not asked for people to "raise their right hand".

 

My pastor husband was also a certified teacher. I never wanted him to teach in a Christian school that was run by one church. The church would own your private life as well as your employment.

 

Hamel, I would add that your antagonism as shown in this thread causes me to wonder to what extent your personal perception and bitterness played in what is described in the OP. It is obvious that you have a chip on your arm.

As for the insulting use of Our Lord's Name, let the Mods deal with it.

 

:thumbs: A church that I belonged to a few decades ago also had a school. This policy seemed to work well.

 

My advice for your daughter is to get a higher education if she needs it and go teach in a public school.

 

I think I also read somewhere that the FCC was going to require an intelligence test to keep all the idiots off the Internet. Be glad when that one takes place!

For those of you who can't read, who are posting on this thread:

1.The Scripture doesn't say 'Thou shalt not USE the Lord's name in vain'.
The Scripture doesn't say 'Thou shalt not SAY the Lord's name in vain'.
It says :'Thou shalt not TAKE the name of the LORD thy God in vain.'

2. 'Take' and 'say' are not synonyms, in anyone's thesaurus.

3. My wife 'took' my name, when she married me. She submitted to my authority. She depends on me to provide for her.

4. The LORD's name is Jehovah.
In English:"Providence".

Pro 30:7-9
7 Two things have I required of thee;
deny me them not before I die:
8 Remove far from me vanity and lies:
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with food convenient for me:
9 Lest I be full, and deny thee,
and say, Who is the Lord?

and take the name of my God in vain.

If my wife didn't live with me, or obey me, or trust me for provision, she has taken my name in vain.

For a Christian to steal, is to say the Jehovah, 'He who sees and Provides', is not actually the provider. This would be taking the Lord's name in vain.

12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

Stop with the Catholic redifining of terms already.

Now, like I said, find me a thesaurus with "say" listed as one of the synonyms for "take".

Quit letting the RCC define your Bible for you.
