    I wore a pair of skinny jeans (dark washed so a little nicer looking), cute boots, a long sleeved henley shirt, a sweatshirt, a quilted coat and gloves. We had church outside today since once a year we can't meet at our hotel!

    I took two little children (I'm an old lady) with me--one from a poverty situation.

    We all three wore jeans and tee's and sneakers.

    We were clean, comfortable, and the little one that has no dress up clothes was not made to feel uncomfortable or odd.

    Hmm - dressing down for me is to wear one of my very oversized t-shirts, a pair of old sweatpants and my slippers. If anyone sees me leave the house in that get-up, please commit me?

    Hubby has a bad foot and just discovered how comfortable the fake crocs are. :) But he still goes with his boat shoes to church. LOL

    LOL - I urged my hubby to buy a pair of sweatpants that actually look nice! They are black cotton sweats material with a regular bottom rather than elastic. They are the kind a guy can go out in. :)

    And how did everyone enjoy their Sunday?

    I personally went visiting today, to the little Episcopal church one of my daughters is marrying into and low and behold, the folks taking up the offering were wearing JEANS!

    After all that trouble I took finding out dress pants. :/

    :laugh:

    (those liberal Episcopals! What was I thinking?!)

    Church in my neck of the woods was wonderful. We are working our way through Matthew - today was chapter 7 ;) Tonight was a Gospel Sing. I saw people dressed from suits to jeans in both services. I usually fall in the middle so I can wear my Sunday duds to school on Monday.

    WHO CARES!?

    If God doesn't care, why should men?

    OH because men are superficial and care about stupid stuff to compare one another to see who is more holy.. (or is it holey).... LOL..

    "Im more holy because I wear a suit"
    "Im more holy because I wear jeans"

    Blah, Blah, Blah...

    PEOPLE ARE GOING TO HELL, AND WE LOOK AT WHAT EACH OTHER IS WEARING...

    BUNCH OF PHARISEES!.. QUIT TRYING TO WHITEWASH THE OUTSIDE CLEAN UP THE INSIDE....

    Sometimes I'm ashamed to be associated with God's children.. especially the ones that refuse to grow up!

    First I'm a legalist and now I'm a pimp. :laugh:

    I, for one, never said my church clothes make me more holy.

    I'm having trouble with the clarity of your post, TinyTim. Could you restate your position to tell us what you REALLY mean? :laugh::laugh:

    FWIW, I concur. :thumbs:

    For a long time in the Bible Belt, one's Sunday clothing was the highwater mark of one's spirituality. The more like a peacock that you looked the more righteous you apparently were.

    I used to believe that myself. It's what I was taught.

    I have since come to reason. :thumbs:

    I dress better going to church than anywhere else I go. Why? It's not because I worry about what others think of me. I'm the last person to worry about other's opinion of me. I dress nicely as a sign of respect to my God. I dress nicely as an offering to Him to show Him that I love Him and am willing to make myself as presentable as possible when I come to (corporately) worship Him.

    If I were to visit with a famous person, such as the President, I'd similarly dress nicely. It's a sign of respect.

    So your saying if someone wears a pair of jeans, sneakers & a poloshirt that they are disrespecting God?

    No, I don't see where I said that. In fact, I think most of my sentences started with "I". I was speaking of what "I" do.

    WOW so you see yourself better than those that feel they want to honor God by dressing in their best. Not one person who has said they dress in a suit or feel we should wear our best has said anything that you must do that yet you want to critcize them and call them legalist for their convictions.

    It seems odd that the Father of the Prodigal who is a type of the Heavenly Father told the servants to get the best finest robe and put on the son when the son returned from having been away in sin. The took the fatted (best) calf and slew it for a party in His honor Jesus seem to say the Father gives us His best and a lot of us feel we should give of our best to the Master, as the old Hymn says.

    Give of Your Best to the Master | Howard B. Grose

    Give of your best to the Master;
    Give of the strength of your youth;
    Throw your soul’s fresh, glowing ardor
    Into the battle for truth.
    Jesus has set the example,
    Dauntless was He, young and brave;
    Give Him your loyal devotion;
    Give Him the best that you have.

    Refrain:
    Give of your best to the Master;
    Give of the strength of your youth;
    Clad in salvation’s full armor,
    Join in the battle for truth.

    Give of your best to the Master;
    Give Him first place in your heart;
    Give Him first place in your service;
    Consecrate every part.
    Give, and to you will be given;
    God His beloved Son gave;
    Gratefully seeking to serve Him,
    Give Him the best that you have.

    Give of your best to the Master;
    Naught else is worthy His love;
    He gave Himself for your ransom,
    Gave up His glory above.
    Laid down His life without murmur,
    You from sin’s ruin to save;
    Give Him your heart’s adoration;
    Give Him the best that you have.

    Many of us were raised and taught this and still have conviction about it, that doesn't make us legalistic. We aren't forcing our convictions on you, that would be leagalistic. Pharisses set rules and regulations and expected people to follow thme, now I will ask you a very serious question, if it came to down to causing a split in a church over what you wore would you wera asuit or split the church? I would wear clothes even if it was shorts and muscle shirt to keep peace would you?
