I am sorry, but I don't get this:

Personal attacks are against the board rules and have been deleted. This thread is closed with prejudice.

I didn't get it either Jim.. I didn't see any personal attacks and was emailed any time some one posted in that thread.

I asked about the closing of threads earlier but got a "standard' answer.

It would seem that times have changed around the BB and that is just something to get use to. :(

What constitutes a "personal attack" depends on the politics of the poster. Point out the error of a rightie without ad hominem...personal attack. Call a leftie "Satan"? That's okay. Hope that clears it up.

How do you get e-mail when the thread is posted?

You can subscribe to the thread or when you post, at the bottom it should allow you to pick and chose whether you get a notice or not. You can set it up in your control panel to automatically pick the option you want as a default.

I thought the rule against personal attacks had to do with personal attacks on a poster or member of the BB.

Certainly, public figures are targets for attack. It's always like that. I am not defending all attacks on public figures, but that is not the kind of personal attack we are not supposed to do, unless I'm not remembering the rules.

This may be dumb, but where is my control panel? Thanks in advance

Who kills the babies at D&C's? Who kills the babies in the womb when still born and removed? If life begins at conception. then D&C's are inexcusable too.

There are a host of inconsistencies here. Is God a killer of innocent unborns?

Sorry, I am still confused, and still don't see any real remedies to the seeming problems everyone wants to scream about on every turn. It used to be enjoyable here to discuss issues and even differ amicably.

    Cheers,

    Jim

You are correct and there were no personal attacks towards a member of this board on that thread.

    It was closed WITH prejudice.

I don't really get your point but not all D & Cs are abortions. D & Cs are done to:
Diagnose conditions such as uterine cancer
    Remove tissue after a miscarriage
Treat heavy menstrual bleeding or irregular periods (See: Bleeding between periods)
Perform a therapeutic or elective abortion
    Investigate infertility

    Source

Abortion is only one of the purposes.

I agree. I've had 9 D&Cs - 2 for pregnancies and 7 for hemorrhaging. In the cases of the hemorrhaging, I would have died had it not been for the D&Cs - AND there were no babies involved. In the 2 D&Cs for pregnancy, the first was after I had already lost the baby (so there was no baby involved again) and the second was after a confirmed fetal death (3 ultrasounds confirmed it) at 10 weeks and the doctor went in and took the baby intact to be able to find out why I had 2 miscarriages in a row. But the baby was absolutely dead before the surgery.

So I've had 9 D&Cs and none were for abortions.

The thread referenced in the OP had nothing to do with abortion. Hard to believe, I know.

All you have to do is check the politics of the one who closed the thread, simple as that.

Like MP said, if it is a right-winger who is being attacked, deletion. If it's a left-winger, pile the attacks on. It has been getting worse.

I think since Obama won the election, some here feel like if they don't do all they can to stop us "devil" democrats, all hope for the United States is gone.

Yes, and I started the other thread just to say how we, in Canada, appreciated having Mr. Obama, a perfect genteman, in our country, representing America, and how well he did and how we respnded in kiind. Hard to believe it turned into a battle field on abortion, homosexuality and Lord knows what all.

    Cheers,

Jim. just a dirty old socialist, I guess.
