Some people tell their children that their pets "went to heaven" to ease their pain over the loss. Is there any verses in the Bible that would adress this issue. Or even any verses about animals in heavan at all? How many of you believe there will be or won't be animals in heaven?

Revelation 19 talks about riding on white horses from heaven. Not sure about pets in heaven, but I know we won't have to clean up after them if there are.:tonofbricks:

Scripture says, "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body." (Rom 8:22-23)

Creation would hardly anticipate material redemption and all that entails if it was going to be annihilated before eternity dawns. Whether pets go to heaven we cannot say for sure, but Ecclesiastes 3:21 seems to preclude it. That said, it seems likely there will be animal life in the new earth and hence in eternity.

The fact is, we have many pictures about heaven in scripture, but do we have the whole picture in any one verse?

The scriptures talk about the lamb and lion lying side by each in peace. They talk about the triumphal return of the Christ on a white horse. They say that we will be neither male nor female, so heaven's realm is sexless. Does that mean we are simple spirits? We talk about identifying those who have gone before us, but how do we do this, except by kindred spirit?

Streets of heaven are to be paved with gold. Gold is the most precious commodity we know. These are not literal streets of gold, but images that we can understand.

Let's not get carried away with trying to define every aspect of heaven. We know that we will be there in God's grace as opposed to eternal separation from God.

For the rest we can employ the biblical imagery, but please leave it at that; imagery!

    Cheers,

    Jim

I have to admit the first time I heard someone say this, in my opinion, it seemed like a wrong to say. When I expressed this point of view, it was obvious others felt I was the kill joy. My next question, is there any harm in telling children this, or is it just an innocent way to explain to a child?

Christ said we will have bodies like His. That's a real physical body. The resurrection is pointless without a real body.

Having said that, pets in Heaven is something I've wondered about, but not too much. My cat hates me, and my dog loves me, so maybe that says something about which pets go to Heaven :D

Will we see our pets in heaven? Here's a passage a friend recently brought to my attention ...

    Ecclesiastes 3: 19-20
19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

Do I think my pets will be in heaven? No, not really. But I wouldn't complain if my furry friends showed up! ;)

I have no doubt that Mine will be there according to what the scriptures say.
I was told all my life that animals will not be in heaven and I believed it until I began to read the Bible for my self.
God Created all things for His pleasure and for his glory therefore it would be Ignorant of me to think that animals will not be in heaven.

I sure would like to see some of my old dogs again. From what I've read, there will be an abundance of natural beauty in Heaven, so that would include animals.

An episode of "The Twilight Zone" had the story of an old man & his dog who died and were walking along the road to heaven. He came to a gate in the fence, where a stranger said, "Welcome to Heaven", but said his dog could not enter. The old man wouldn't go without his dog, so he & his dog kept walking. Further down the road, another gate and another stranger welcomed both man & dog to Heaven. Turned out that the first gate was the entrance to Hell.

I've seen that one, MP! I do like the old B&W Twilight Zone episodes. One time, I did a search on "dogs" on an electric Bible, and the results were not very kind to this species, they were unclean, and so I really don't know if there are dogs in Heaven, but I've always wondered....

    Love,

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

No other species is mentioned as being formed and made alive in this manner.

Genesis 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Only man has an eternal soul because it is the breathe of God. If pets go to heaven that means they would also be disposed to go to hell, too. An animal does not have a conscience nor the ability to choose good or evil, so how could judgment be passed on them for eternity?

Since we're told there will be animals in heaven, and since the Bible tells us that animals have souls, even though they don't have spirits, I would say it's quite possible they'll be there, but by no means definite.

Many animals DO know the difference between good and evil. However, they cannot confess their sins to Christ.

I respectfully disagree. An animal does not know if what it is doing is good or evil it only follows the commands of his/her master, and because we as masters, for the most part, seek to teach our pets proper etiquette, you may view it as them distinguishing right from wrong. The fighting pit bull is doing what it is taught because it is rewarded for it's behaviour and could care less whether it is evil or good.

    So.

I guess I'll see our four parakeets there, eh ?

My wife will be glad. She's so attached to them.

They come out of their cages and sit on the stairs by the keyboard soon as she starts to play.

A child when it ages begins to distinguish right from wrong. An animal regardless of how long it lives, never reaches this level of awareness.
