    You've been shown from the Word time and time again where this line of thinking is errant. Yet, you keep holding this logic. :confused:

    And yet no one is interested in interacting with my presentation of G. Hawthorne's hypothesis :(

    Personally Chick, I see some warrant in that interpretation. If it weren't approaching 2 am and I didn't have a stomach virus, I'd elaborate. Let me get some rest and I'll pick this thought up tomorrow :D

    You're kidding - right?

    Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
    9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

    Col 2:11 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ;
    12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
    13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,
    14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

    1 John 5:10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.
    11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
    12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

    Chris,

    The problems are in the details. What assumptions are being made?

    Let's look at your first scripture:

    For by grace you have been saved through faith

    Paul is talking about the elect. Nobody deserves salvation, but God has saved his elect by faith. Paul had the same problem we have, he couldn't tell what kind of heart a person had. Only time can tell.

    having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

    Once again, Paul is speaking to the elect.

    , He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

    Ditto

    He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

    Now the question becomes how do we know we have the Son of God and who does not. The Bible says that we are to judge this by actions at that time, not in the past.

    1 John 2:18-19

    Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us.

    Phil 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

    1 Pet 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

    Perseverance of the saint is evidenced in the scriptures and is a promise for the child of God to lay hold of. However, in the same light, the bible warns of apostasy.....with the same vigor.
    The believer is called to meet w/ fruits worthy of repentance. James exhorts that our works are an evidence to the faith we confess. As the above scripture notes from Peter's epistle, the righteous are *barely* saved. One 1/2 sin would have kept us out of Heaven. We continue to sin, yet are fully justified by Christ. In this light, we are to work out our salvation w/ fear, with trembling, w/ respect. James say's that the demons tremble, we tell people, "Yea, I'm saved (in a matter of fact, tongue in cheek attitude".) The demons tremble.............The demons are well aware of the extent of Gods power. We are blind. Work out thy salvation w/ fear and trembling!

    In this world the child of grace will "never" attain perfection. We are the children of wrath even as others in relation to our condition. We are by nature sinners when we are born and sinners when we die. Everyone that are reading these words will die because of that sin.

    There is a Spirit inside every child of God that belongs to God. When we die that Spirit will return to God who gave it no exception because he bought it with his own blood. The salvation that we work out is the salvation we already have in Jesus Christ. Somebody may ask why workout what you already have? You work it out because there are benefits and rewards in this world as you follow God!

    Does anyone believe that there will be preaching in heaven? What about prayer? What about anything in regards to salvation as you daily walk with God? David was a man after God own heart yet he lost the joy of that salvation because of his sin against God. He never lost his salvation and none of Gods children can lose theirs. God can visit you with your own private hell here on earth if you know of that salvation but ignore or let it slip and there are many stories of those who have been there.

    The scriptures declare that we press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Will we ever attain that perfection in this world, only if we are in Jesus Christ is that perfection found and it is a gift from God... Brother Glen [IMG]

    tuor;here you go again with the same topic,you're getting good at beating a dead horse! Have you ever read Rom.10:9-10?"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,thou shalt be saved.For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;and with the mouth confession is unto salvation." I'm amazed that they are still allowing you to post the same thing over and over again.Maybe one day the scales will fall off of your eyes and you'll be able to see the truth,until then give it a rest your babbling is getting old.
