    No---but

    My wifey and I were talking about Mister Crockett just last nite!!!!

    We were out doing a little Christmas shopping----and had got mixed up in all the traffic along Hwy 280(the corridor to the Heart of Dixie) in Birmingham---with shops lining both sides of the great concrete divide east and west!!!

    I made the comment----I wonder what Davey Crockett or Dan'el Boone would say if they could see Highway 280 now???

    [with their ears to the ground] Seems like many horses have passed this way. [mustangs-deer-etc.that is] :laugh: :laugh:

    Naturally, the "deer" are John Deere.

    [groan]:rolleyes:[/groan]

    Don't blame the shotgun Brother Blackbird. It has to be the horrible conditions under which you Southerners have to hunt. You don't have any snow and it isn't cold enough to wear a coat. That's fishing weather!

    Drop that temperature down to about 20 degrees. Trust me, there won't be any no-see-ums flying around in that! Then get yourself about 6-8 inches of new snow. Deer are pretty canny but I've yet to see one that brushes out its tracks.

    If that doesn't work, why don't you and the lovely Mrs. jump in the car and drive North. madre has about 100 recipes for venison and a hankering to try them out. :thumbs:

    Know why people from New York City are always angry? The light at the end of their tunnel is Newark, New Jersey! :laugh:

    NYC is about 4 1/2 hours south of here. Been there twice and don't plan on going back. Tell Lil' Sis if she want to experience NYC to try the home visitors package first.

    Let her borrow the garage for an hour. Leave the cars in there. It helps with the effect. You need a garbage can half full of week old fishheads, chicken bones and something the dog left in the yard. Get 5 radios, set them to different radio stations and play them all to once. Get three televisions playing (in order) The Godfather, Sopranos and anything with Joan Rivers talking. Hire the kid next door to honk the horn of your truck while yelling, "Whadda you crazy?" Attach pictures of the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and Yankee Stadium to the ceiling so she'll look up with her mouth open. Knock her down and take her money. Welcome to the Big Apple.

    Middleville - not to be confused with Middletown - sits at the southern gateway to the Adirondack Park. Halfway between Syracuse and Albany is the city of Utica. I'm 25 miles northeast of there. Deercamp is in the other direction. It's about 20 minutes out of Cooperstown home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Now if Lil Sis wants to meet some Amish folk, dig for Herkimer Diamonds http://geology.com/articles/herkimer-diamonds.shtml or see Babe Ruth's uniform http://web.baseballhalloffame.org/index.jsp, give me a call.

    True---I'd like to visit your area of New York one day

    Visiting NYC reminded me of the Hank Williams song

    "Well, I've got a friend who lives in New York City

    He doesn't call me by my name---just Hillbilly!!!

    ====

    ====

    Well I'd like to spit some BeechNut in that dude's eye

    Shoot him with my ole Forty-Five

    And a country boy can survive

    We gotta keep it a secret. Folk find out we've got woods, critters and trout streams up here and they won't want to go home.

    Co-workers call me Country. I tell 'em Thank you!

    We use shotguns. This here's Remington Country.

    Not that kind of boxing. It's a British, Canadian, New Zealand sort of holiday. Nobody seems to know why but we don't know why Canadians end their sentences with eh, eh. Almost had a Thrilla in Brantford (Ontario) with MIL, but that's a long story.

    Thrilla in Manila? Ali-Frazier part III, October 1, 1975. I am the greatest....

    I always thought Boxing Day was the day you put all the things you didn't want for Christmas back in the box and returned it to the store!

    love,

    I'm gonna keep all the Pit Stop readers informed

    My wife and I have begun building a house-----

    Never have done anything like this before----but we'll do our best

    Somebody on here tell me how to download cell phone photos on to the board and we'll keep you informed ----- from the ground up

    Goal to be in by June of '08

    Come and visit if you're through the area

    On the Alabama state map---find Logan Martin Lake in Talladega County---then find the markings for the hydroelectric power dam near US Hwy 231---we are about 3 miles south of the dam on the Talladega County side of the lake

    Good deer huntin'----good fishin'---good eatin' at Blackbird's

    Too much of that and you won't get much building done. Give padre a call if you need any help. I can hunt, fish and eat with the best of them.
