    Hi all,

Please help me to fix my yahoo messenger.
I could login to it but could not chat with my friends. The chat window does not appear and when i go to any chat room, the error message appeared is "chat error". I suspect this happened after i downloaded and run "Spykiller antivirus"

Tried to do the following but fail to fix it.
    1. Uninstalled & reinstalled yahoo messenger
    2. Uninstalled and deleted all traces of Spykiller
    3. Uninstalled and reinstalled internet explorer
    4. Set the connection to: no proxy, firewall
with no proxies, no network detection in the
    yahoo messenger

Is there any one who can show me how to fix it.
Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi, My husband would suggest that you uninstall the spykiller anti - virus and then install AV WIN which is available from www.freeav but try yahoo without any anti-virus to see if it works to see if the spykiller was the problem. We have yahoo messenger and we use the av win and have had no problems. I hope this works for you. [IMG]

    Blessings

Have you tried just reinstalling the Yahoo chat program AFTER you got rid of the spyware program?
If you use Windows try updating: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
Perhaps repairing your browser might help?
    Just a few thoughts.

    Hi Shiela,

Thanks for your concern, tried the following but problem still exists.

I think i'm on firewall but i don't know how to remove it. When i use my webcam, the message error says i'm on firewall. Any more hints. Thanks again and God bless you and your husband.

Tried contacting Yahoo technical ? Seems to me like a corrupted .exe file, which means if you were able to reinstall it, some components of the program may actually be missing.

As for the Firewall, if you're running WinXP it has a built in firewall. If not, you should be able to uninstall your firewall from the file manager or windows' uninstall program.

Also, get help with cleaning the windows registry, that might help.

Yep. Born in Manila, raised in Quezon City, stayed for a long time in the Visayas. Speak, read and write Tagalog, Waray, Cebuano.

I live in Maryland now, about 20 minutes from DC, depending on which part of DC you want to go.

    Glad to meet you.

faithcontender, try to do the following:

    1. Delete all your cookies from your Temporary Internet Files folder.
    2. Open up "My Computer," "Control Panel," and open "Add/Remove Programs Properties."

It sounds like you have residual programs which you did not remove, when you deleted the Yahoo package. When you go into "Add/Remove Programs," you can scroll down the list and see what you have on the computer. Let me know the result of your search and destroy mission! [IMG] [IMG]

How about just zeroing your hard drive and reinstalling the OS ?

But I guess that's too much work simply to have Yahoo messenger, right ? [IMG]
Well, have you tried MSN messenger or AOL ?

    Hi PinoyBaptist,

Actually i'm already using other messenger. Trillian appears to be ok. You can use it to connect to msn, yahoo and others. But i need messenger that caters for voice chat.

Do you know any other messenger that has voice chat? I tried msn but its voice chat doesn't work for me and my wife there in phils. Yahoo is working very well for us that's why i want it back to work.

Thanks brod for your continous support. [IMG]
