    Most folks make plans to vacation "somewhere" in 2002, with the majority taking the time in the May-September months.

    General area where you will be heading?

    Poll would have been more helpful if we could pick more than one option. Just my two cents.

    yeah, and what exactly constitutes as a vacation? Time off? Time away? Sometimes for me, just being away is the best thing for me.

    Still perfecting my "polling" skills. Roper I'm not. [IMG]

    Would like anyone who punched "other" maybe to share what plans they have. Thought I had covered the main options pretty thoroughly.

    And a vacation is a vacation is a vacation. TO YOU. If that will be a long weekend, a week at grandmas, or 3 months at the Cannes Film Festival, just answer the questions as YOU define "vacation".

    I was trying to find a section for Bible Conferences in the poll, to no avail. That's the only vacation we are attending every year withj my wife during the summer. We have a life contract with Word of Life Fellowship, Inc., the late Jack Wortzen's organization in the heart of the Adirondack mountains, Upstate New York. The scenery is breath taking, the place is exquisite, the food is out of this world, and the Bible teaching is one of the best in the country. [IMG]

    Vacation to me is deined as paid time off from work.

    I have two weeks this year and will spend both at chruch.

    Week 1 is Jun 2 - 8. And is our annual Camp Meeting. I will be spending most of my time that week at chruch either helping out, having some fellowship, or in service. My wife and I have volunteered to open our home that week to one of the visiting preachers. So even at home we will be playing host.

    Week 2 is Jul 7 - 13, and is VBS week. My wife is very involved in VBS and I will be helping out. We are going to take a long weekend the 13 (leave as soon as VBS is over) - 15, and go to a Bed and Breakfast in WI. Our Anniversery is the 7th so thats our gift to each other.

    Hey, Barnabas, I'm with you on the Adirondaks. Gorgeous scenery, but you have to hike into the mountains to get the real good stuff.

    I was there in October of 2000, & was caught at about 4200 feet, on Saddleback Mt, in a sudden snowstorm I could not believe. Lucky to have made it down. And we were prepared. Can you imagine those poor slobs who go hiking in a t-shirt & jeans ? Not very bright.

    As no one else has taken the lead, let me do it. I have purchased plane tickets to be in the upper midwest (Illinois/Wisconsin) from July 2 through July 16. Anyone interested in getting together let me know. [IMG]

    Well even if no one else shows up we should at least be able to meet somewhere in that time frame, and I won't even have travel. [IMG]

    Elizabeth is in Rockford. Joy is close enough to drive. We will have to work on recuriting them to join us.

    Anyone else comming?

    Bill

    Vacation?! What's that? [IMG]

    My ideal vacation would be time alone in my own house with NO obligations - no travel, no cook, no clean, no phone calls, no doorbell, no mail sort, no dog walk, no interruption. Don't want to go outside - want to stay inside in the air conditioning. No hurricanes. :D

    The closest I've come to this was three days and two nights in a full-service hotel in 1988. After having spent 4 months caring for my mother after she was trapped in a house fire, I needed a "vacation"! It was blazing hot that summer, even in Maine (where I lived at the time), and I craved air conditioning (which we didn't have) most of all. Room service was grand, too!

    In a couple of hours I'll be headed to a place in southwest Missouri to do a two week retreat at a place run by nuns. It's a "solitude." I was there last year for a retreat, but only for a week. I'll have my own little "hermitage" and I don't have to see anyone if I don't want to. No phones, no TV, no pesky neighbors, no sirens or any other form of distraction. Just a lot of silence and solitude. As much as I can stand. I even eat alone there. It is SO nice to have that much peace and quiet.

    Here are my vacations I have planned out:

    1)During a break from school starting in a few days, I will be visiting seminaries in Louisville, Kansas City, and Boston. When I get back to Mississippi from Boston, I might visit relatives in New Orleans. Over Memorial Day weekend, I will be attending a singles' retreat near Gulfport, MS.

    2)At the end of June I will be attending my 20-year high school reunion in San Antonio.

    3)I am making plans in August to attend a conference in college ministry at Glorieta, NM(near Santa Fe).

    Uh, vacation this year? What is that? I do need to take some time off. I went to Salt Lake city, but don't know if it was leisure, though tremendously fun.

    I am going to Ukraine soon.

    What's a vacation??!! :rolleyes: [IMG] :eek: :D
    It's not really a vacation, but next year, Lord willing, our church will be doing a mission trip with another church {just so happens the church has the same name but diffrent locations}
    We will be going down to the Islands to Granada. We will go by plane and stay in a hotel {we think?}
    We will be having a week long revival in a church some of our missionairys started. We will also do a lot of wittnesing/soul winning. I can't wait! I hope to see many saved while we are there.
    Last vacation I was on?! Two years ago. We went to Tennesee up in the mountians. We had fun, but I hated missing church services that sunday, and while we were out shoping, someone broke into the house we were renting. Quite a shock to say the least!
    So much for family vaccations!! But then again there is NEVER a dull moment in my family!!
    In our Saviour,
    Abby
