Hmm, God's will for Hitler? Do you believe that Isreal would have been allowed to become a country if the world hadn't first witnessed the Holocoust?

Hussein? Why not Hussien? He was a murderous dictator of a murderous people. There is no arguement that I know of that shows that region was EVER at peace. They were always infighting and outfighting and have only joined loosely joined forces now to cause trouble for Isreal.

In case you didn't understand, all rulers are there be divine appointment. No one gets into power unless God puts them there.
However, God tends to give people the ones they deserve.

As for discernment, we obviously disagree.
Again, you have heard the mainstream media over and over on the subject. PLease read his book and at least give him the chance to give his side of the story.
If you still think he is wrong, then you still think he is wrong, but at least you will know more in depth of his reasons and background.

My comment was not directed at anyone here per se.

Roy Moore was asked directly if he continued his job, if he would continue to acknowledge God, no matter what any other judge said.

Let me ask you this: What should his answer have been?

I sure hope not. It is bad enough doing something out of ignorance, it is quite another to do something like this willfully.

Wait just one minute. PLease do not attack his person and stick to the facts.
You have zero evidence of his motives.
If you do have evidence you have not stated that.

Come on, he refused to take PAC money for his campaign and you accuse him of things like that?

You are correct - there is no proof of grandstanding. That is my take on the situation just as your take is that Moore was the only Christian worthy of being governor of my great state.

Alabama has spoken - and they have spoken correctly.

You do have me interested enough to read his book - is it available online with international shipping?

Have you read it? I have listened to it a couple of times on my iPod.

As far as siding with atheists, all I meant was, when a situation arises and you are not sure of all the facts and you see the battle is between a minister of God and atheists, well...it would be time to make sure your facts are right.

If the Christian is indeed wrong, then fine...but I for one would be careful.

Yes, at the end of the day, we must all have our own conclusions. All conclusions are between us and God. Though I will do everything I can to show where I believe he was right, you must believe what you believe or it is worthless. If you change your mind just on my opinion, that will not really do any good.

I am a big fan of audiobooks.
I got my copy from iTunes and of course there is no shipping. The only thing would be they may not have it in the UK store, but if you still have US credit cards you should be fine.
The nice thing about the audiobook is that he reads the story himself.
I know they carry the hard copy at www.theamericanview.com

Actually, my family comes from Mississippi. As in way back they did. They lost their farm after the civil war and moved to Texas and then to Arizona and now I live in Indiana.
I haven't been to Alabama since 1996 but I did like it down there.
There is a much greater Christian influence down there and it seemed to me that the churches were mostly Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian there as opposed to the Church of Christ, catholic etc that we have here.

Better make it his left in case he ever becomes judge again so he can use that gavel ;-)

Sorry, I have a lead clicking finger. You didn't think I was finished already did you? :D

Word of warning, before clicking on any of the links I've provided set your pop up blocker to high.

First of all, since when is losing a job because you were derelict in your duty a reason for martyrdom? Pension? I've looked and can't find a single source to back up the idea that he lost all his pension benefits. Now, we here in AL have generous pensions for our judges. Take a look:

    http://www.rsa.state.al.us/Publications%20and%20Forms/Pubs/ERS/JRF%20Handbook%2002.pdf

What he may have lost was the benefit he would have earned if he had finished his term, but I can't even find documentation for that. I'm tired of hearing that bit of propaganda, so if you can't back it up quit spouting it.

Now, just how much do you suppose the man makes off the lecture circuit? How about this:

    link to above quote: http://montgomeryadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060611/NEWS02/606110305/1009

$250,000, not bad pennies for an an ousted judge. Doesn't look like he's suffering much.

Of course Siegelman claimed to be a Christian. Didn't I just tell you that you couldn't get elected in AL without it? Siegelman is Catholic, which means he can be corrupt during the week and go confess on Sunday and get forgiven. Link to info: http://www.ontheissues.org/Don_Siegelman.htm

Oh and most of AL knew Siegelman was a crook when we elected him the first time. But given the choice between him and Fob James, we chose the lesser of two evils. No chance that a republican would get elected that year after the Guy Hunt fiasco. James was an idiot who nearly ruined the state the first time he was elected and was continually trying to get into the state retirement funds(our state's retirement system is extremely well managed and has a constant surplus that just about every governor has tried to get their hands on.).

    Hmm, another thought I've had.

Why is it that you support Moore ahead of any other Christian? Does he have a special dispensation from God?

Bob Riley, was and is the best choice for the job. He is also a Christian man, but without all the controversy that Moore would bring to the state. He's proved himself very capable of handling the job, through the Moore trouble and even through the people's rejection of his first plan to get Alabama on it's feet financially. When Siegelman lost out on his lottery plan he flat out pouted about it and told us there wasn't another plan! Governors prior to him only ran the state finances futher into the ground. This state is doing the best it has in as long as I can remember under Riley and I for intend to keep it this way.

Oh, and we still have the fewest taxes in the nation.

    I wondered :)

I use Apple Safari, great browser and I never get pop ups that I don't want. (which basically means I never get them)

Ahh...what was his duty? His duty before God was to uphold the law. His first duty is to God. Had he ceased to acknowledge God, he would not have done his duty before God, and since the Constitution of Alabama invokes the favor of Almighty God, and since it was his duty to decorate the building, then to back down to an attack from a source that did not have jurisdiction in that particular case, would have been to fail his duty.

I am not sure exactly what he lost..I read that in a newspaper article from one of the Alabama newspapers.

I think that was probably it, he WOULD have gained something if he had continued, but I can't be sure exactly what it was.

The only thing I said dogmatically was that he lost his job. The other was given with a grain of salt.

So God can still take care of him in spite of what was done to him. Praise God for His provision!

However, what about his attorneys fees? $500,000?

No, I am sure he is doing just fine.
God has blessed him in spite of the the injustice.

I didn't really consider Catholic to be a christian. And I didn't realize a catholic could get elected in the Bible Belt either.
Interesting. I have never heard our governor claim any religion. He may have, but not when I was listening.

I don't know enough about all of this to give a detailed response.
I don't see how Siegelman would have been the lesser of evils though.
BUt that is beside the point.

Alabama politics is Alabama politics and I live in Indiana.

I support Moore on the issue of the acknowledgment of God. Riley was a coward and didn't stand for his God when put to the test.
So it all comes down to money huh?
Why is it that no one cares if a governor obeys the law..as long as economy is good?
Why do you think the German people folloed Hitler? Because he brought them out of a depression. He gave them a good economy.
WHy did people re-elect Clinton? Because gas was cheap and the economy was good.
Didn't matter that he trashed the law of the land.
Didn't matter that he allowed the killing of innocent babies.
The economy is good and since our nation worships the dollar, he got re-elected!

So, Riley says that the federal courts are god to avoid controversy and he provides well for his subjects so all is well.

    Dale,

I appreciate your passion. But just because I didn't support Moore's bid for governor...that does not make me a heathen...I feel I had good reasons for not supporting his bid for governor.

I hope I didn't imply that you were!

My point of this post was not that Christians in Alabama were heathens but that they were misinformed by the mainstream media and perhaps had a lack of discernment in cases.
What you believe is bewtween you and God. If what I say does not line of with the word of God then please do not agree with me.
I would suggest though that you give him the opportunity to explain himself and read his book.

I still have a hard time believing Dale that you can't accept a Christian in Alabama could make a conscious, well informed, discerning, and prayerful decision not to vote for Moore.

Well, I sincerely believe that Moore was right and that it was a very important issue.
I don't mean to come across as being a know it all. There are things here though that are very important and the implications are serious.

Once you have read or listened to his book...I think you will be very well imformed on the issue and will have heard his defense and side of the story. At that point, if you disagree, then fine.
You have the right to disagree with me.
You do NOT have the right to disagree with God's word.
If I have not "rightly divided the word of Truth" then you should not accept what I say.
