I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm just going nuts (hush!). But I really thought that my post number last night was over 2500 and this morning it's under that. I'm curious if something happens to the post numbers when threads or closed (or even lost like that pit stop that blackbird managed to hide so well that no one can find it!)

If I'm nuts, it's ok to tell me. I do work with 8th graders, so I've got a fairly good idea that I am :D

Bitsy, I don't know about the post count, but whenever a thread like the Pit Stop, CH, etc. is closed to start a new one, the old one is always deleted (unless it is an 'important' thread, then it is archived).

Blackbird just closed this one early. I let them reach 20 pages. He closed this last one at 10. I think the new format had him messed up...

Ach! it happened again! this time I was over 2800 and now I'm just over 2600. Drat. At this rate, I'll never get 3000 posts.

Now, I'm down to about 2500 posts. Sue is cleaning out the game forum, so I'm guessing that's what's happening to them. But, if posts are going to disappear like this, what's the point of keeping track of them on the screen?

Bitsy: Cleaning out a forum never takes away your post count. You can make a post and delete it yourself and your post will still count.

Besides, the threads I deleted are still in the games forum. Only the mods and administrators can see them, but they're all there.

When a certain 'gentleman' whom will remain nameless (Arrrrrgh) used to triple post, I would delete his posts, but he never lost anything from his post count.

The post counts going up and down must be a glitch in the system...

Well, it's a logical conclusion since my post numbers were going down at the same time you were working.

    I'm so disappointed *sniff* :tongue3:

A lot of my posts were in the deleted threads and I didn't lose any posts. At least I don't think I did. I never pay any attention to my numbers so I can't tell you for sure. I will watch the next time and see though.

I would contact Bro. Andrew and ask him about it.

It appears ours went down again. Sue was about 200 shy of 40,000 and look at her now :tongue3:

I'm losing posts too, but I think mine just started doing that.

I think we still have a lot of 'bugs' in this format that need attention.

I couldn't remember how many I had, but I sure thought I was closer to 40,000 than I am now.

THe problem is when a mod/admin deletes a thread it removes the posts from the system completely. So it decreases your post count.

Well, I sure didn't realize that was the problem.

A deleted thread in the old format did not mean deleted posts...

We do have to purge, from time to time, so I guess we'll all have to get used to 'jumping' posts...

    Well then :D

Ok, so my next question is why keep the post number up there in that little box? I'm a math teacher ya know. Numbers aren't supposed to do that.

I'll never reach 40,000 either, Bitsy. :tear:
